God fucking damn it, why is there no good information out there on this shit? Frankly I'm fucking sick of hearsay, second hand knowledge, and... well I'm fucking sick of not knowing my shit when it comes to n-iso. So I went looking. It's unbelievable, but here is the only and best information I could find (can we get a mother fucking chemist up in here plz?)The conversation is ongoing; last post is from 2 days ago. It's pasted below for your anonymous pleasures (it's http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=215342 if you want to look yourself).Quote from: Docta on drug-forums** Myths of AlkylbenzylaminesThere seem to be some misunderstanding when it comes to Alkylbenzylamines as cutting agents, they are used in large shipments to mimic Meth not small street sold bags. N-methylbenzylamine (N-MBA), N-ethylbenzylamine (N-EBA), and N-isopropylbenzylamine (N-IBA) are substituted because there large shard crystals that look like "ice" and close chemical properties such as boiling point and solvency.N-isopropylbenzylamine is the most common of the N-Alkylbenzylamine adulterants because of its amazing clarity upon re-crystallization. The amount of N-IBA in a street bag would be a matter of bad luck more than design by a dealer to rip of the end user.** Why not N-isopropylbenzylamine?The N-IBA purchased from chemical suppliers comes as a powder much the same as Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) a food supplement . MSM is the most widely used adulterant found in street Meth because it can be simply Cooked with Meth to form a glassy platelet that can be broken into chunks for resale on the street. This can not be done with N-IBA , there is no simple Kitchen recipe for combining N-IBA with Meth so large Meth crystals cut with N-IBA are highly unlikely.Imagine if you will that the author has first hand knowledge of the techniques necessary to tern a 20 Kg bucket of N-IBA powder (as supplied by the manufacturer ) into a bucket of Breaking Bad large longitudinal crystal shards indistinguishable from Methamphetamine Hydrochloride.Observations: The problem with these N-IBA crystals is they are fragile, they dont travel well, they fall apart under pressure and can not be expected to survive being put into the line of distribution to the end user.** How do I tell the difference?Marquis Reagent Test does NOT react with Alkylbenzylamines so it can be used to confirm large crystals.Caution: Depending on the concentration and the age of Marquis reagent, the alkylbenzylamines can give a presumably "false" or weak positive after approximately 30 seconds (a positive Marquis test usually takes less than 10 seconds).** How do I tell the difference if there mixed together? In the case of crystal shards and no Marquis test a small amount of pressure will shatter an N-IBA crystal but not the harder Meth crystal. Be warned this shard smashing can lead to disputes, the Meth dealer dispute resolution system can leave the buyer unsatisfied with the outcome. I highly recommend getting the Marquis Reagent Test, selecting your crystals and chipping a grain of sand sized peace off for testing. In the case of powdered or very small crystals of Meth its almost imposable to distinguish the two other then a noticeable lack of effect or possibly the mystical art of crack back pattern reading.I hope this puts to rest the myth that N-IBA is indistinguishable from Meth,A supporting reference for the fragility of clandestine re-crystallized N-IBA can be found in the DEA Microgram Bulletin 2007;40(8):79-80.Quote from: followup by doctaQuote from: hotdogfrenchfriesJust because it is a solid formation does not mean it is a crystal. If one were to take a large amount of meth and iso,....I probably should have explained myself better about the "Kitchen" preparation of Meth/N-ISO solidification to a single mass. What I meant was to make a single mass that can be passed off as crystal meth. The solid mix of Meth/N-ISO looks like the white icing on a wedding cake and would not pass a close inspection.Quote from: hotdogfrenchfriesAlso, the DEA stays that meth in 80%+ purity is "ice" and has special sentencing guidelines for when "ice" is found.Yep, I would think they mean "ICE" (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride) is 80 and a bit percent methamphetamine and 19 and a bit percent hydrogen chloride making that level of purity in a class of its own. Not that it has other impurities, that its near total purity if you can understand what I mean.Quote from: hotdogfrenchfriesFinally, I don't know what sources of info to trust on the topic. For example, wikipedia says that N-IBA is not believed to have any psychological effects.I tend to agree with you there it all seems a bit anecdotal, maybe placebo effect more then any real measurable effect. There was sort of a "phase separation" between both layers.Quote from: doctaYep, I would think they mean "ICE" (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride) is 80 and a bit percent methamphetamine and 19 and a bit percent hydrogen chloride making that level of purity in a class of its own. I never bothered to do the math: meth 150g/mol and Hcl 37g/mol so 80/20 exactly.I suppose the DEA can say whatever they want.... I've seen things like:"The compound retreived was a mixture containing meth. in 99% purity"Quote from: doctaI tend to agree with you there it all seems a bit anecdotal, maybe placebo effect more then any real measurable effect.I don't know enough about the topic to be able to say whether compounds with the same formula and structure would cross the blood/brain barrier the same way.... at first sight it would appear that they would, and that they would be active on the CNS.... but then there is the R-enatiomer of meth.Whatever is sold on the streets, smells like phenylalanine hcl, which I don't remember smelling, in the mid 2000s. Also, I am certain that the potency is much lower. This is very obvious when, sometimes, product coming from a different source is obtained and tested right next to the mexishards. For whatever it's worth.... it's a very effective way to keep users using, always seeking that one batch.I don't recall it being this way when I first started using. The effects were much more pronounced, even after a year of daily use. Note that I think by R-enatiomer of meth he's referring to the levo-rotary enantiomer, but... I'm no chemist. And with that, VOILA, we now know... fuck all! Fuck fuck fuck I fucking hate fucking lack of information. To sum up, nobody knows fucking anything and there is nothing to be found but hearsay.P.S. - fuck you all, good day. So do you like me when I try to do research without meth, hmmm? :P
