Here in the states at least, "Dom" is short for "Dominatrix". So I believe what prof WW is saying is that his dad was a cop that loved getting dominated by his mom, who dominated men for a living ... or something like that. :-X I've always considered dom the masculine form and domme the feminine, but maybe that's just me. Your interpretation makes a lot more sense though :) Ah. Interesting. I've never seen "domme" used as written like ever. Is it pronounced with two syllables? If so then I don't think I've ever heard it used like that IRL either. "Dom" as pronounced has always been used interchangeably IME whether masculine or feminine but far more common implying a female. Is "domme" how it was spelled in 50 shades of grey? ??? I've heard people pronounce it "dom-ay," but I never liked that. I mean I strongly dislike it... no idea why. It just sounds so... gaudy somehow. I don't know. In my head I pronounce them the same; I suppose you can avoid the ambiguity and just stick to "dom" and "femdom." No clue about 50 Shades of Grey, never read it. I was told the male character was the dominant one though.
