Just for the sake of anybody who doesn't wade through the whole thread, DDoS is a Distributed Denial of Service (like a botnet paralyzing a website). One machine performing an attack is a classic DoS, not a distributed one. I'm not sure it even matters these days though, nobody seems to make a distinction lately. I'm amazed it's a Perl script though. That must be one ridiculously inept admin if Perl functions are crippling the entire machine all by themselves (which must be the case, if the clearnet site is effected)... I'll have to look at just what it actually does at some point, thanks for the info.
