Title: Does SR still receive the sellers fee from scammed buyers transactions?.....
Post by: Imperialised on May 22, 2013, 10:45 pm
Im not a vendor, so wouldn't know

I dont know if fees are paid at the end of a given period, or deducted from any given transaction

But I must admit, it is an interesting question, especially if the answer is yes

SR only receives fees from successfully completed transactions, I believe.

Imperialised, what scout is trying to say without addressing the question directly is that Silk Road receives commission on all successful scam attempts.

Now if scout really wanted to be a helpful he could tell you whether SR receives commission from orders held in escrow but he's a forum mod with no direct access to DPR or SR mainsite. Useless piece of shit, ya?

Lol.  Go right on believing that.  Doesn't bother me a bit.

Yes, I understand that already scout. But even a scam transaction, where the buyer gets scammed and receives nothing, is still seen as a completed transaction

The buyer obviously gets away with the money, as the transaction is completed. What im thinking is, if the fee is automatically deducted from these 'successful' transactions (unlike, for example, Ebay - where fees are paid at the end of a given period), then SR would in effect, be receiving a cut from the theft of the buyers

I think it is very unfair to any buyers that are scammed, for SR to make profit on their unfortunate loss and I, without doubt, think the money should be returned to the buyer. Obviously, it isnt much... but at least its something

There is already protection in place to prevent people from being scammed.  All they have to do is STAY IN ESCROW.  In those cases, the buyer is absolutely refunded.  When you choose to leave the protection of the escrow system, there is nothing that SR can do because the buyer has already released funds to the vendor and "finalized" the transaction.  Once it has been finalized, there's nothing for SR to do because finalizing the order implies that it has been received and that the buyer is happy with it -- otherwise, they shouldn't be finalizing!

Buyers need to take some responsibility here - it is incredibly simple and easy to avoid being scammed by just staying in escrow!
