I sent $125 in bitcoins via bitinstant yesterday around 8pm est. They are still not appearing in SR. I typically send them to my bitcoin wallet, then from there to SR. This time I accidentally entered the SR bitcoin address into bitinstant, so no layover in a wallet, should have went straight there. While I was waiting I decided I need to post more bitcoins for what I wanted to order today, which is now too late, ugh. Anyway, I selected new bitcoin address.
So, I have an email from bitinstant showing the bitcoin address and that it's been sent, but it doesn't show in SR. In SR, I have a new bitcoin address that I've posted other bitcoins too. Since I changed my bitcoin address during the transition, will it ever come to my account? If I check the bitcoin address with blockchain, it says there is no money in it and it's never been used. So if chaning the address is the problem, why doesn't blockchain show that it has money?
I'm confused and I don't know who to report the problem too. SR says that I should post a question her before I open any support calls. I think I need to email bitinstant, but I'm not sure if there's more information from SR I need to understand before I do.

Hi! Okay, first things first ... go to blockchain.info and enter the btc address you had the coins sent to. Does the transaction show up there? If you're not comfortable checking this yourself, either Libertas or myself can look into it. I actually have a worsening migraine at the moment and may sign off here in a minute, so you probably want to ask Libertas.
He'll see this and you can PM him your btc address (The one you provided to bitinstant) and he can check to see if it's showing on blockchain. If it is showing, then it's an issue on the SR-end of things. If it doesn't show up, then it's a problem on Bitinstant's side.

That's where I had looked it up and it said "No transactions found for this address, it has probably not been used on the network yet." But, it's the bitcoin address I got from the bitinstant email saying the transaction was complete and it was sent to that address. If that's the case it sounds like the problem is with bitinstant, correct?
If so, when I contact them and tell them the address is empty, but show them the email saying it shouldn't be, what do I do about the address not being in my account now on SR? should I give them the new bitcoin address? or just have it go to the old and then contact SR?
I have to leave too, to meet someone. I'll check back in a couple of hours. Thanks!!

Yes, that's what it sounds like to me. If it isn't showing up on blockchain, then it was never sent in the first place.
Coins sent to your old address will, I believe, still eventually arrive in your wallet since it was an address belonging to you (and your account) ... so that's not so much of an issue as getting Bitinstant to actually send the coins you paid for.
No, do not provide a different address to bitinstant - they won't send the coins to a different address, and that would really just confuse the situation.
You'll just need to talk to bitinstant support, provide them with a link to the blockchain page that shows there has been no transaction, and then once they have actually sent the coins and it shows on blockchain, THEN you can address the issue with SR Support to make sure your coins will still arrive in your account even though you've since changed addresses.

Im having the same issue, i sent BTC from blockchain to SR and they havent showed up in my SR account.

Well, they finally posted, even though blockchain said there was nothing there, weird. Took over 24hrs. At least I have them back : ) I've learned that sending directly to SR takes over 24hr, but sending to a wallet, then SR, take a 1-2 hours. Not sure why. Thanks everyone.

I presume that if you check the address now it shows that the transfer shows up?
If they did not appear when you were checking the address earlier at blockchain.info then they were not sent when Bitinstant told you they were sent. A lot of people seem to be experiencing similar delays with Bitinstant recently, and it is entirely on their end, not Silk Road's.

Why isn't my deposit showing up in my account?
It can take up to 6 hours for a deposit to be confirmed on the blockchain, processed, and credited to your Silk Road account. If your deposit still hasn't shown up, first check that it is showing up on the blockchain by searching for your deposit address on a site like blockchain.info. If your transfer doesn't appear here, then it was never sent and you need to find out why from the person or organization who initiated the transfer. If the transfer does appear, then there could be a problem on our end and you should contact us.
