If someone moved BTC from your account then they had to have your pin.

Did you ever enter your silk road login information on page that asks for your pin?  It sounds like someone got your login information and your pin which can happen if you click on a bad link for SR and enter all that info, aka phishing scam.

You should immediately change your pass and pin if you want to keep that account.

Make sure you don't use the same user name pass combination on any other sites either...

So your btc were sent to the backup bitcoin address you had in your settings?

Do you normally have to enter your pin to withdraw btc to your back up address?

I can't get in right now cuz I think the whole west coast is but I'm curious hmm.

If you're using the "withdraw bitcoins" section on your account page, then, yes, you need to enter your PIN.  If you're talking instead about the backup address for use in case the site ever goes down permanently, then I would think you wouldn't need the PIN for that since the whole thing is in place for emergency dispatch if the site were ever to go down permanently.
