Title: The Bakery - selective scammers
Post by: Rhinosaurus on April 23, 2013, 11:57 am
I had read that these guys are pretty untrustworthy but thought i'd give it a go, 5 days now and no show.
I had read these guys are selective scammers and from my experience that is hitting the nail on the head with a hammer, spot on. They say they don't refund or reship, because it was sent 1st class.. as if that is some kind or reason to expect it won't reach it's destination, when in reality i have had two 1st class packages arrive in the same time frame, so unless any of this changes i suggest avoiding the bakery at all costs, unless you are a gambling man.

Feel free to leave your experiences with The Bakery.

Did you stay in escrow?

Did you report them using the "report this vendor" link on their vendor profile?

i am still in escrow yes, i can't seem to access the silkroad right now but i imagine i have around 9-10days until auto finalization, i will report the vendor once i am able to access the road again.

Don't let it autofinalize - report the vendor and then also take your order to resolution in order to request a refund.

His response over the last 3 days are like this:

"Dear rhinosaurus,

Thanks for you message. All customers that order from us, as far as we know, have accepted our Terms and conditions. Everyone knows the risks of sending anything through the post and we do offer a 100% refund or reship when we can track orders.

We don't just give away our product, which in effect, is what your asking us to do. We will give you a sympathetic discretionary 20% refund if you place your order in to the resolution center.

Respectfully,

TB"

1 day ago (after telling him i would be making this thread)
To the bakery
"Sorry but why 20%? seems like you are trying to buy my silence now, it is apparent to me that i have been scammed since 2 other packages sent 1st class, one of which was less than desirably packaged have managed to arrive no problem the following day, so as far as i can see your package was never sent or i would have a letter saying it has been seized, of course there is a chance of it being opened and pinched by the postie but surely that would be down to bad/obvious packaging, i am not asking for a full refund but between 50% and 75% is reasonable considering i had received 2 other similar packages the next day after ordering the same day as yours (both 1st class as i said)."

today
"Dear rhinosaurus,

Thanks for your message. There seem to be a few orders from the same delivery date that have gone missing which leads us to believe there may have been a problem at the post office for that day.

We are offering a 50% refund for all order that day. Please put your order in to the resolution center for a 50% refund. If there could be no mention of a refund in your comment as we would still like to uphold our enforcement of this rule we have set.

Kind Regards,

TB"

Is this normal behaviour? of course i will be taking the refund but as it says i have 11 days till auto finalization it appears i can't click the resolve button, also will I be getting my bitcoins back at the current market value? or the value or the purchase at the time?
Thanks, Rhino.

I ordered twice from The Bakery, each time just 1g of cheese when I had pennies left over. It arrived fine the first time, albeit in basic packaging. The second order failed to arrive, accompanied by the vendor being offline for over a week. I'm sure it wasn't sent. By the time it hit resolution, the vendor had reappeared and offered a full reship. That did turn up, but it was obviously my last order with them.

btw, check which product you ordered, half of his listings only ever had First Class as a shipping option

Recently I had a domestic package take over a week to get to me and the postmark on the letter matched the date the vendor had shipped it and the postage on it was correct. Sometimes these things just happen
