Title: Only got partial refund on cancelled order
Post by: ilmw on April 15, 2013, 03:44 am
Hey!

I purchased a >$160 item Friday, from a seller who uses escrow. Today though, the seller canceled and refunded the order (at about 12:00 am UTC, 4/15/13).

However, I only received a partial refund. I got a refund of 0.81 BTC; since BTC rates were around $90-100 at the time, this comes out to about half of my refund. I did have about 0.9 BTC in my account when the refund was issued, so the two add up to about the correct amount...I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it.

(And this is the 2nd order that's been canceled in a row due to recent events, so I'm hoping to have the funds to place another order soon...)

But any suggestions as to what may be going on here? Thanks.

So when you initially placed the order, was it .81 btc?

No, I paid 1.5-1.6 BTC (just checked). The price of BTC was somewhere in the $100-110 range at the time.

Plus since the order was hedged, my refund should have been adjusted based on the current BTC value (as of a few hours ago), correct? So it will probably be pretty close to the original BTC amount in this case.
