Title: Think im being scammed by EJDirect
Post by: antichrist on April 11, 2013, 02:56 pm
I made a purchase from EJDirect on 4/6/13 with express shipping and nothing has arrived... He asked me to FE early with a free sample if I do, but I declined and told him I don't FE early because there's lots of scammers out there.... Since then he has not responded to any of my messages for over a day and a half...  I want to get my listing cancelled and my BTC back...

Thanks
AC

I hope you have reported the vendor. I am suppose to receive and order from them today, but it isn't going to happen. I hope the mods are keeping up with the feedback about this vendor and that SR will freeze their account ASAP and hopefully return some of the BTC to the buyers who fell for this scam.

Good thing you didn't FE, but I did.

Yes, I reported it to a moderator, I just want my money back so I can make a purchase from someone different.... I hope you didn't FE...

I did.

I know the chance of me getting anything back is slim to none, but I would love to give my BTC to someone who deserves it.

Why hasn't SR shut that bastard down yet?

People are still FE as of two hours ago.

Not sure why he's still up, maybe he's good at making excuses...  Wonder why the mods haven't sent me any messages yet... I thought I would get a message saying there on it or there doing something about it?  Guess in due time I suppose...

Same here.

He asked for FE but I explained I'm not comfortable with FE and to cancel my order.
He said it was no problem and not required.

I don't even care about the money, it was only $72. It's just principle. Same reason I didn't FE.

Stop FE'ing, save the road.

Popping in to let you know that the staff is aware of the possibility of this guy being a scammer -- as soon as they can be sure, they'll take care of it.  In the meantime, it goes without saying but I'll say it anyway: DO NOT FE FOR THIS VENDOR.

No, he didn't AC. He just said "that's not required". It's still in transit.

I haven't asked him to cancel my order, just offered it as an alternative to his request for FE.
Whoever put 1/5 with a link, thank you for the headsup.

Thanks for the update. Just changed two of my late orders (still not here, surprise) to 1/5.

He seemed really cool and I was going to buy 5 pounds of grass my next order so I guess it could've been worse (I only bought 1 this time)

He hasn't responded to my messages now that I told him it's been late 2 days. He updates his profile with "news" which is kind of weird

I think I'm done with the Silk Road after this rather costly mistake... my own fault for FE'ing, just seemed like everyone else was doing it, and now I realize how little sense that makes.

I probably wont be doing business on the road either unless by some miracle the funds I sent to EJDirect are returned.
It's my own dumbass fault.

I was only interested in finding some good L around here. Anything else I can either find, grow, or extract myself.

Damn, I hate these situations.  I've been scammed here before too, so I know how it feels.  I'm trying to help warn Vendor Support as early as possible when possible scams pop up -- and I know that inigo is always on the ball to investigate and take care of it as soon as he has enough proof.

Everyone who spoke up about this vendor and their suspicions is AWESOME.  It's things like that that help us catch these things relatively early on, though I'm so sorry for those who were scammed.  Unfortunately, before Vendor Support or the staff can ban a vendor, they need actual proof that they are scamming .... otherwise, competitors could submit fake reports just to damage each other's business.  So the staff does have to do some investigating and does need actual proof of a scam, rather than speculation ... which is why it's almost impossible to stop a scam before it starts.

Don't let this ruin your time here though - there are still so many good, reputable vendors here who go out of their way to make sure each and every customer is happy and taken care of.

Yeah, he hasn't read the past 4 of my messages and it's going on day 2 now...Yeah I noticed that news thing as well and thought to myself I could of sworn that wasn't there when I ordered (thanks I new I wasn't loosing it)....
Oh man I'm so sorry, that must of been some serious dough.... I've been thinking of leaving SR as well as there's so many scammers out there, but I need to use up my BTC and I keep getting drawn back to this place...

What proof do you need, I'll give it to you... I did an express order from him and he supposedly has a DCN#,  I never received my product so if you guys ask where's my DCN# and he can't provide it to you then he obviously didn't send anything to me and was trying to scam me out of my money...

EJ Direct is scamming me too!!!

I placed an order paid for express mail. It is suppose to be here today. I am pretty confident it is not going to come.

I dont know what to do, i guess there is nothing i can do.
EJ Direct is a piece of shit, karma will get his ass. Thats all we can hope for, those of us who FE atleast.
I fucked up, never will i FE again. As of right now i dont even want to buy from the road.
I have had over $4000+ in good transactions, never expected this. I guess i got to confident in the road, forgot there are people out there scamming...

The worst part about it all is my friends threw down with me, this is their first time to ever use the road.

Yeah think they will ever want to use it again... NO!

Thanks a lot EJ Direct
fucking ass

i know its fucking ridiculous that they even have allowed him to be going for so long.

I blame SR really, they should not allow for this to be happening.

I believe EJ Direct is the same guy that has been scamming on silk road for over a year now.
Using different account, making a few fake orders to get enough good feedback to get back to start ordering.
Then it just took off, this guy is stealing so many peoples money.

What the hell are you waiting for silk road?!?!?!

Why cant you just empty this guys account of all the thousand and thousand of dollars that he has stolen from good users, users that have been using the road for what its suppose to be for, not for scamming people!
This scam has turned soooo many good users away from silk road, soo many users that would have been back and spent good money here.
Now all the other good vendors and SR has lost out on all the money.
I dont even care if you guys emptied his account of all the money and keep it for yalls selfs.
Just fuck EJ Direct.

i just dont understand what the hell is taking so long to stop this guy.
if it was stopped weeks or so ago, like it should have been. that would have saved me and several other users from getting scammed.
so please do something about it now! He is just getting more and more money as i type!

There are patterns that can be seen, you could at least freeze the account from taking new orders. This site needs to keep the customers safe more than the vendors, we are more vulnerable. I am pretty pissed at how this situation is being handled and obviously it isn't the first time. I was just taken for 1800 and if you read the forum for 5 minutes you'll see that it obviously isn't a vendor submitting fake reports.

I love that there are vendors here that are good people to work with but SR doesn't deserve a cut of the profit if they can't take care of us - everyone here is a customer of SR, not just the vendors.

I agree with you and was thinking of the same thing earlier...  Vendors are protected while buyers are left to fend for themselves as if we where in Tijuana late at night in a dark alley....

I know for a fact the vendors say the same about the buyers.

When somebody stays in escrow, and goes into dispute, they will ban him. May take a few buyers, but SR Support is aware of the history.

We have been screaming that you DON"T FE. Why do you?
Who are you blaming? You, that's who.

Everyone make sure you use the "report this vendor button" on SR! This is overlooked a lot, it's very important.
Title: Re: Think im being scammed by EJDirect
Post by: silky314 on April 11, 2013, 10:30 pm
This may be a stupid question, but can't someone at least have EJDirect submit photos of his supplies with a newspaper type way of verifying that at the very least the vendor has what they say they have? Obviously this isn't in any way proof that the person isn't scamming, but the inability to show said products together would lend some credence to the idea that this is a scam. Having ordered from vendors from different countries on sites other than the silk road, it may very well be that the person just got overwhelmed with too many orders and, not wanting to lose business, just keeps taking orders regardless. Any thoughts on this?

Regardless of the "you should know better than to FE" mentality, this vendor has been reported by numerous people and SR has still failed to stop them!

What more evidence could they possibly need?

People are not receiving orders, people who have remained in escrow are not being refunded and still NOTHING has been done.

What are they waiting for?

i believe this guy has been on silk road scamming for a long time now.

Xanax Bar, Thefarmacy, and EJ Direct.
All the same asshole i feel like

its a pattern,
set up shop send out a few items,
get a few good feedbacks.
Then post tons of shit with great prices,
the orders come flooding in.
Offer discounts and intensives
and the reason of BTC volubility ( which is very real, we saw BTC drop about $100 dollars in a matter of minutes yestarday)
Bullshit people as long as you can,
just milking the cow.

That is what is going on here i believe.
I seriously hope i am wrong.

i posted links to the threads on my feedback.
you all should do the same.

its bullshit silk road cant do anything about, even the people who FE. I mean come on its a known scam he scams thousands and thousands of dollars from people.
Just empty his account of BTC and offer people a gift card to spend it on SR, you guys still get your cut.
That makes everyone happy, then even more money will come flooding in, and everyone will be a lot smarter about who they are buying from,
 preventing scamming in the future

I can see both sides of this, vendors and buyers. For those of us who didn't FE and remained in escrow, we will be taken care of.
My only concern is why are we in the position of proof, and the seller isn't to this point.

It should be: Vendor account locked out and frozen until he can prove a few things. 1) Stock on hand pictures. 2) DCN for those who ordered early. 3) Explanation.
It should not be: Multiple buyers having to hash it out over several forum posts, multiple "Report this vendor" submissions, multiple buyers claiming no DCN.

Each case is unique but this one appears to be pretty much solved across the board and should be treated as such.

The disadvantage to the time spent not freezing the account and refunding coins, is their value has since gone down and our scammed money is sitting in escrow dropping value, when we could be spending that on a different vendor, or more likely in my case, waiting until btc stabilizes somewhat so the vendors don't take a loss either.

Hey Sigma, that's a good idea but I don't think SR is to blame for buyers going outside of escrow. At all.

We all know why escrow is there. If we didn't have it, we would be begging for it. Those who choose to Finalize Early, they're taking their own risk. The excuse does not matter.

Would I do it? I probably would on a relatively smaller deal if I had dealt with that vendor before and they asked me to. Of course, I would be hesitant and I would be understanding if I got scammed, because I made the decision.

I think too many of SR buyers are eager to get a free bag of goodies or a promise to the pasture. STOP Finalizing Early!

I think the idea of gift cards is awesome though because what you said is very right, it would persuade them (new buyers) from leaving the road and give it another shot, as well as educating them. But to expect 100% or even 50% from SR is ludicrous. If I had lost my ass on my own dumb decision to FE (for any reason) and SR was gracious enough to give out 25% gift cards, that'd be more than fair and I would be thrilled. But how can they afford to do that either?

Our job as a community is to help newbs on their journey and to be smart on ours. The smartest thing we can do is to stay in escrow.

If the bitcoin is unstable, such as lately, then vendors should take appropriate action on their end. Whether it be to raise the price, suspend sales, and or hedging.

There are enough tools to make the system work, the only failure I see, other than those who FE'd and are disappointed with themselves and the vendor, is the speed at which SR is taking action on this one. This is textbook from the history I've seen here.

I should keep this a secret  :P  ...  Though so many times I become victim to sellers saying they sent there product and it never arrives nor do they have a DCN#...  Then they usually offer a reship or 50% BTC back... This is such a scam as they do not need to have any inventory and as I always asked I want the product so I say please reship 90% of the time I never receive the item and I loose my money and they gain everything.... Even if you ask for 50% back, they just made 50% of your BTC for doing nothing.....  SR Mods needs to  figure a way to deal with this....

I didnt say click resolve. Go to his main profile page and under his username click the report vendor button. This will help to get him banned. Once he is banned your money will be refunded to you unless you have FE'd. Even if you did FE there is a chance the money will be refunded.

Where vendors are intermittently experiencing issues and generally have a good track record and the buyer has solid stats yes the general SR position would be to split the loss 50/50. If there are a increase in issues then there is nothing stopping you asking for a higher or 100% refund as I recently did with one vendor and got.

It is an imperfect system, the scammers will always be here so we need to use all the tools at our disposal to stay as safe as possible, not FE on orders is a big step in the right direction. The forums should be your bible, check up on the latest news for any vendor before placing an order, things change fast on SR.

I know FE was my own damn fault. .. but I can't cancel an order for four days, so why can I finalize immediately?

Just saying, maybe if buyers were not allowed to finalize for a few days maybe scams like this could be better avoided

Buyers cannot finalize with new vendors for a longer period. If buyers still want to FE with other vendors then on their head be it, seriously if I had a bitcoin for every time I posted DO NOT FE I would have... well half of what i had yesterday. But anyway the message still holds true, follow the buyers guide and do not leave yourself open for a scam.

That should pop up when people click the finalize button and ask if they are sure they want to continue.

Did you stay in escrow?  If so, you should be able to hit the "resolve" link to request your refund.

Does anyone know if he's banned does it mean he's locked out of the account?

That's a good question - I know that when vendors are banned, they can no longer move any BTC around from their wallet ... but I'm not sure if they can, for instance, still access their messages.

I still am in escrow and I have 6 days left till resolve becomes a button I can click on...  I don't want to wait 6 days with my money in his wallet a lot can happen in that length of time...

The coins are not in the vendors wallet, they are in escrow.

If you want to speed things up you can try contacting SR support on the main site.

I'm still waiting for my escrow to be released also, not that I have anything new to input here, just thought I'd let you know, you're not alone in waiting.

I have 15 days until resolve. 4/20 will be over by then and I have a friend counting on me, I might have to get more coins.

Here is the answer - Yes, they can. I've been watching this whole EJDirect thing from the start, I placed an order a week ago which is still in escrow. Then after his account had been suspended, he messaged me saying (basically) "Tracking says the package has gone missing, take the order to resolution for a refund".

Strange.

Probably trying to create the impression your order was send to reduce your refund when in fact it was probably never sent and therefore you should get 100% back with no damage to your stats.

I agree. He has not responded to my request to see the tracking details for myself. Still there's nearly a week to go until I can resolve the order, maybe bitcoins will have gone back up in price by then? A positive from the negative.

He messaged me about 9 hours ago, which was after he was banned and this is his response...

"EJDirect    We looked up the tracking number, and it looks like the package was lost. If you like we can do a refund, just take the order to resolution and we will go from there. Sorry for the inconvenience."

I am glad I received my money back 100%, though I'm not happy that I didn't get back what I paid for... I guess since the BTC has gone down in price I received less money back than what I had given... I believe that I should have received the same amount that I paid for in the listing... Yeah it might be the same amount of BTC but it's not worth the same anymore...

That is the risk of placing unhedged orders I'm afraid, I'm assuming that is what has happened in this case anyway.

Though most/a lot of listings are unhedged which sucks...

I think that was a more recent phenomenon when the price of BTC was going through the roof, I think now after the crash you will see most vendors offered hedged listings again, those vendors who had a lot of BTC in escrow unhedged have been hit very hard by the drop in value.

Seems fair that the sellers should get the appropriate value for the product. Currency value changes and thats the risk we take as buyers playing with BTC.
