Title: BitInstant Trouble
Post by: Gengar17 on April 08, 2013, 04:07 am
I would highly advise staying off BitInstant for the next week or so until they resolve the problems they have been having.

Currently, I have a sizeable chunk of BTC floating around somewhere after ZipZap sent me my notification email about a successful ZipZap payment. Long story short, funds never made it to MtGox, I contacted MtGox and they said that it was BitInstant's fault. This is not the first time I have used BitInstant, and I did everything the way I normally do it. I have submitted support ticket to BitInstant, sent them an email or two, and even Facebooked them with no response.

Clearnet Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/Bitinstant As you can see, I am certainly not the only one having this problem. I've checked the Bitcoin forums as well and many people are having this problem while most remain unresolved.

I am more than a little disgruntled as their website clearly states "15 minutes to an hour" and it's been days and even a week for some of these people. Heed my warning and steer clear, at least until they fix or even so much as address the problem. If anyone has successfully navigated through this problem and has any advice, advice would be great. Thanks.

Yes, some people are still missing coins from weeks ago.  Their support is terrible.

Have any recommendations for future transactions Scout? After this whole mess it's safe to say I'm looking for a new payment processor.

Sorry, I'd rather not make any recommendations because I would feel horrible if anyone was then unhappy or if the business then went downhill like Bitinstant!  Basically, the best thing you can do is search the names of these places here and on the clearweb before choosing one.

Finally hours later mine went through. Gengar17 have you tried putting your address into the search bar at blockchain.info? You can at least see if it is starting the confirmation process.

Got an email from support and transferred sometime early this morning, guess I caused enough of a ruckus to get it transferred. Even so, BTC price raised $52 since I put in order, not very happy about that. Thanks for the update Black.

Its my understanding that direct-to-bitcoin addy deposits thru BitInstant go through nearly instantly even during this time of their issues; it did with me a few days ago. Thats probably why its 3.99% to transfer that particular way.

A few weeks ago I had problems even with the direct to bitcoin addy option but today I bought some BTC through BitInstant and I had the confirmation within minutes. Hopefully they are back to being reliable once again. I was worried it would take over 24 hours like last time.
