This is an automated message to all users at Silk Road :
A message has been sent to many users (especially to vendor accounts) claiming to provide an opportunity to invest in the Silk Road marketplace. Users were asked to send Bitcoins to a specific bitcoin address in order to buy shares and receive interest on their investment. This is a scam message to receive user funds and should not be believed. Silk Road will never offer investments or shares and neither will Dread Pirate Roberts.
A following message claimed to be sent from the same staff member to all users contained a similar attempt to scam even more people; please do not send any coins to the specified address.
Please remember that all official Silk Road messages will be signed via PGP by either "Dread Pirate Roberts", "Silk Road scam prevention" or "SR marketplace". The public PGP key can be found in the forums, the wiki and at the bottom of this message.
If you would like to help the victims of today's scam message and future scam victims here on SR, please consider donating to our new recovery fund which aims to compensate fraud victims. I find this very funny. So much more creative in their scam ideas than all the email and facebook scams out there. Using a previous scam to try and bring legitimacy to a new one, never seen that one before.
