Title: Silk Road address on the Hidden WIKI directs to login page asking for pin
Post by: MasterSquirrel on April 02, 2013, 08:24 pm
I saw on the hidden WIKI today that the address for silk road seemed wrong.   It lists it as http://silkroadxmx45vk4.onion/  and when you go there it looks like the SR login screen with an additional field asking for your pin due to recent hacker activity.  Wanted to bring this to your attention.  Every time I try to fix it, it reverts back.

How many times do we have to address this?  IT IS A PHISHING SCAM.  The scammers will continually change it to the phishing link.  DO NOT USE THE HIDDEN WIKI'S LINK!

You should only EVER access SR at the following url:

silkroadvb5piz3r.onion

Clearly you are visually impaired otherwise you would have noticed threads warning re phishing scams with the following helpful guidance in the title:

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE LINKS ON THE HIDDEN WIKI AND WIKIPEDIA.ORG TO ACCESS SR

Seriously, before you do anything more on SR go and read the forums and research how to use this place safely, read every link in the FAQ sticky at the top of this board too.

Fucking hell  >:(

Wanted to bring this to your attention.
There is nothing anyone can do about Tor Hidden Service phishing sites.

Ah thank you for all your kind replies.  I figured it was something like that, I did search on the forums but nothing came up so I figure I should get the word out in case anyone is silly enough to enter their pin.  Sorry for bringing this up again.

Wow man, I hate to think how awful your life has been.  I hope things get better and just remember, if you don't like your life you have the power to change the way you live.  Good luck.

Literally as soon as I edit the WIKI to right address or add a note to be careful it reverts back to the incorrect address within 30 seconds.  Like someone has a bot setting it that often or some such, I'm not really a techy so I really have no clue.  No worries though I knew right away something was off, never entered anything of mine, I just wanted to make sure the SR staff knew incase they wanted to do any kind of notification.  Not sure why I couldn't find anything when I searched but I am new here so I probably did something silly.  Thanks for all the help.

Here's a -1 for ya, kiddo.  That was entirely uncalled for.  A lot of people spend a lot of time putting together helpful information and fucks like you blow off even glancing at it.

And to save you the speculation, yes my life is AWFUL. ;)

Understand something.  We answer these same questions about 20 times a day.  There is a thread stickied in this section that warns about the phishing issues on the hidden wiki.  There are hundreds of threads where this is mentioned.  It would have taken you 2 seconds to find this information ... because the information is plastered EVERYWHERE here to warn people against using those links!

Wow, I guess people are as sensitive on here as they are in real life, do you use SR? There is lots of stuff that can help with with those nerves.  But I think you may have read too fast, unless you were standing up for the user samesamebutdifferent which is commendable, i wish I knew someone that would stand by me no matter how awful i was being.   Anyway that user's comment was uncalled for so I quoted it and commented on it.  I apologize if you thought it was meant for you, it wasn't. Actually, I thought you were the only that responded and seemed like they wanted to help so i also quoted you and gave the extra information you asked for.

I hope you were just being sarcastic when you said you had an awful life, we only get one, its a shame to spend it with hate in your heart.

Understood.  So what your saying is, your moderators and you've been doing this too long so the only way to get through it is to get as much hate out as you can.  Interesting world we create.

You're putting words in my mouth.  My point was that it is frustrating when we spend so much effort trying to warn people about these scams and then someone comes along asking what has already been addressed many, many times - samesamebutdifferent was understandably frustrated.  It's like you didn't bother to even try to find the answer on your own.  Just trying to explain why samesamebutdifferent responded that way.

My life is just peachy thank you, my frustration stems from as scout pointed out responding to posts made by individuals who make zero effort to educate themselves and/or read any of the information posted all over this forum such as the FAQ at the top of this board.

My concern is genuine, I hate to see people scammed which is why I have gone to great lengths to inform forums users by creating threads and asking DPR for permission to sticky them, something that doesn't happen often. My only wish is then for people to take the time to read the information that is there to help them posted in plain sight to avoid costly mistakes such as logging onto fishing sites.

I give up anywhere between 5 to 10 hours a day on here trying to help as many people as I can, if you feel hard done by my strong comments I should point out that my intention is to make you and others take some notice because I am frustrated and saddened to see so many people ripped off.

I invite you not to take offense but take notice and learn a lesson in staying safe and avoiding scams, if you want to neg karma me for that go for it, I think that says more about you than me in this instance.

stay safe.

Hey Master Squirrel, have you got any warnings about the vendor support scammer you'd like to share? What about some timely advice on staying away from Tony76? Tee hee.
