Title: Order cancled. Didn't recieve all of my funds back.
Post by: agraman on March 16, 2013, 10:26 am
How does the whole cancel order thing work?
Does the vendor place the amount or is it from SR directly?

I had about .6 - .7 BTC removed after canceling. It's not much, but I don't want to just get ripped off after canceling an order..

You still have to pay the SR-fee on your order, even though it's canceled. Also if the listing was hedged, the amount of coins you get back, also depends on the current value of bitcoins.

So, how much is the SR fee? I didn't know there was one.

Listing was hedged. What does that mean?

Current value of BTC? If I sent someone let's say 10btc and they go up in value over the course of 4 days why am I not entitled to the 10btc I sent them already? Why do they get to keep the extra and just send back what the value was 4 days ago...?

SR fee various on the amount as it is different if a listing is 10$ or 1000$ obviously smaller amounts are taxed higher than larger listings.  Hedged means if the value of btc changes significantly(up or down) your bitcoins will be pegged to US dollar amount and when the order is finalized the vendor will get the dollar amount of btc rather than the amount of btc sent minus 4% service fee.

Basically if the btc's value drops your saved, but if it increases you technically lose money(you will get back less coins than you put in, but dollar amount will remain same(minus 4% tho)).

So I guess I'm just going to lose 30$ for a canceled order. Awesome.

I don't get why'd they keep it. No order went through and charging 30$ for an order is insane...
And if you think this site costs that much to maintain you're crazy. 30$ per order is nuts!

It's called escrow hedging - vendors can choose to enable or disable it, and it tells you if they are hedging an order when you add it to your cart.  If you don't want to deal with the possibility of losing money on a canceled order that is hedged, then use a vendor who doesn't use escrow hedging.  This is all info that is readily available - please take the time to read up on these things before placing an order so you understand the possibilities.

Its goes  like this buddy you buy something & forget to check is unhedged  , the seller who is hedged demands F.E and you cancel  (quite right) ... Sr Allows F.E ? you loose money  & They keep it  ???  sounds good to all, right   :-X

For someone who wants to be a vendor here, edar, you sure spew a lot of hatred toward SR and its staff without actually knowing what you're talking about.  If you hate SR that much and think they are truly evil, then, please, by all means, go elsewhere.

Precisely, egar you already had one vendor account banned for feedback tampering and yet you continue to push your hard luck stories and try to spread FUD. The only person you are deluding is yourself, please do us all a favor and exercise your right to go somewhere else.
