Used bitinstant, Got the zipzap email saying payment was successful but I am a noob and don't know if another email from coinapult is supposed to come or go somewhere to use pin to unlock them.

The coins should show up in whatever wallet you had them sent to. Do you still have your btc deposit address on hand? If so, you can look it up on blockchain.info or blockexplorer.com ... see if it shows this transaction. If it shows this transaction, then the problem is with your wallet. If it does NOT show this transaction, then the problem is with bitinstant and you'll need to contact them to see what's going on.

just email zipzap.. they're a little slow, but they will get back to you and fix it

It's not zipzap that he needs to email .... it's either Bitinstant or SR Support, depending on whether or not the transaction shows up when he searches his btc address on blockchain.info or blockexplorer.com.
