Why 50 posts to become a member and if members had an account before this was implemented then when was it implemented?

quite frankly I am finding this to be a pain in the ass, but as long if it cuts down on spam i am fine with it. I just wish that I had better internet as I actually have to drive to get any decent internet that isn't blocking tor a further pain in the ass

I guess it isn't so bad now that I've found a pace with really good wi-fi

though if we didn't have to only post here there wouldn't be a need for spam topics, and it would be better for us casual users

It was implemented in order to give us a better chance at catching and deleting a spammer before they have the opportunity to spam the main forums and scam people.

Why am I not surprised. And no one notices spam b/c always cleaned up around the clock. If you are here at right time, you'll see the spam like a virus, it is that quick. Goes from nothing to viral in an instant.
But this is only very, very rare. (What, once a day or two?) As for why we have the rule in first place, well, answered a million times lol.

Yeah, it happens maybe 2-3 times a day, but depends on the day.

what would generally come up when the spam tsunami hit?

it's usually just loads of clone posts about scam bitcoin exchanges. they flood every section of the forums but the new mods have been doing a great job keeping up with it recently and thank you very much for that, it's appreciated! :)

oh wow I think I remember stumbling onto one of those waves once, I'm so glad the mods are quite the dedicated bunch!

yeah, I did post a few times in the rumor mill and some other areas...once I break through the 50 post count rule my posts will probably become more varied

I agree - here's #2 of 50 for me. But, WTF, it's a small price to pay to travel down this awesome road. I will probably join in as so many others have, with many posts containing possible shallow words of wisdom to become a junior member.
OMG - just got an awesome rush from PP's pure cola, 15 minutes after snorting - maybe it's drip, but wow! BUT, just think, only 48 more posts and then I can post that comment in the right place!!!

unlike some people who want to spam so they can become members, I'd rather take my time and be thoughtful of the journey that it takes to one day become a hero member

Ah, so it's to stop the BTC scammers? That makes sense, I figured it was some tactic to frustrate LE. Though really, if we can spam our way to 50 I guess they can too.

on the upside though those who were just doing it to casually screw with us now have a barrier instead of being able to spam all across the boards can now only spam this one...unless they are really dedicated they could but others will lose interest pretty quick
