Is reporting posts useful to the mods?

Yes, it's helpful because we can't always read through every single new post in every single thread.  You don't need to report the spam threads because those are pretty obvious to us ... but if the spammer posts in an already-established thread, you could report that.

It creates a paper trail that can help moniter potental problems on SR. Admin and mods cannot respond to things that arent reported, so if it is realy necesary, and not just hitting the report button to register an opinion, I'd advise it.

are we talking about spam or other stuff though?

I take it there's (unfortunately) no feature where an overwhelming number of reports would automatically temporarily block spammers' accounts (pending moderator review)?

Anyway, I'm glad I saw your message; I was about to try to report some "bitswing" posts.
