Hi all,
I'm a newbie from Holland.
I tried to place an order with a seller on Silk Road. In my account are 8 Bitcoins available for payment to vendors.
As i placed the order, i got to a screen were i had to put the name of the seller and a pincode. I can't remember that i have a pin.
Does anyone know were i can retrieve my pin?.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, I am not aware of anywhere you can just look at it like in account details or something.. Don't think you can. When you created your account you should have had to make a pin. Try anything you can think of. Just don't go over 5 attempts. If worse comes to worse you can just create a new account and go ahead and send you bitcoins to your new account. Remember the pin this time.

well the pin is really important.... i dont even think you can send your btc to your new account without your pin. so try and think really hard. if you cant remember you can always try and contact silk road staff. through SR

Please see the wiki on forgetting your PIN: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=PIN
Basically, put the wrong PIN in 5 times and it will then make you wait a period of time, after which you can reset your PIN.

Ive done this before, contact the support staff as above.

That sucks... you may have to make a new account....

Actually, no, this is not the current procedure because you can reset your PIN yourself by entering it incorrectly 5 times, waiting the allotted amount of time, and resetting it yourself. You do not need to contact support.

They don't need to make a new account! They just need to enter the PIN incorrectly 5 times, it'll tell them to wait a specified amount of time, and then after that time has passed they can reset the PIN themselves.

How? So what is the pin for then if hackers can just change it themselves? :o

Usually a person would realize that their account was hacked long before the wait period for changing the PIN passes.

Oh yer that makes sense

I am so confused!! I was told to make another account and so i did, meanwhile the system would let me know when it would make name another password. But but that never happened. i checked out the page in the link, but i just don't follow it. Then eraly this morning i get a letter from someone from SR staff that "SR Support I'll be happy to help you access your account, as soon as I verify that it is indeed you. What was the last SR wallet address used to deposit BTC into the account?
~SR Support 18 hours read....I have never told nyone anyone of my oersonl info up here so itd hard to beieve that some random SR staff would be trying to steal from me. She sent this letter to the new account I was told to made where i wrote SR staff from.
Pleaase scout, what do I do now? I am somehwta lost and confused at this point. My account was fucked up days ago when i enetered the wrong info over 5 times or whatever. Is there anything that can be done at this point? What would you do scout? I am just trying to fix this cuz i own a ver good vendor some money and want to pay hom up. Also, is there a way gto get back my old account? Something about this i just ain't grokking. THank you for your help. ..superjoint

good to know about pin reset, thanks
-
It depends on the problem. SR Support seems to think you were locked out of your account entirely because you forgot your password, but here, you say you lost your PIN. So which one is it? If you're entirely locked out of your account, then, yes, you needed to create that new account and will need to provide SR Support with info to verify that the account belongs to you.
If, on the other hand, you lost your PIN (which is what you stated here) then you should still have access to your account and should still be able to reset the PIN on your own.

I did not lose my pin, excuse me, i lost the passphase that you give when relesing a number to a vendor. I have no idea why i was locked out of my old account? Is there anyway that you can se to fix this? I definietely lost the passphase that you give to release money to a vendor, etc. and it's still in that account...just waiting for me to give to my vendor. my original account name was darbycrashed. Okay, well, passphrase and PIN are two completely different things. If you forgot your passphrase, then you need to make a new account (like you say you already did) and get in touch with SR Support (which you also already said you did). They'll ask you questions to determine the other account does indeed belong to you, and then they will reset the password.
No, I cannot fix this - the only way to fix it is to do what you have done and get SR Support to reset your password.

thanks scout...the only good news in all of this is that i have remembered my pass phrase so i can give my vendor his coin. It's been a stressful few days here but thank you for helping out. superjoint

I thought the catch was that the period of time you have to wait is like 100 years... Is that true? or is it a case to case basis?

No one has to wait 100 years - that, I believe, is/was a glitch. When that happens, then the person would need to get in touch with SR Support, of course.
