Not quite sure whats going on, but it would seem that I now cannot reply to anything on any of the other forums, and cannot find any support to message.
All was fine yesterday.
For the record, I have no intention of spamming threads with nonsense just to get to Member status, in all honesty I couldn't give a toss, all I care about is being able to ask some related SR questions, and attributing to the SR community a by posting product reviews and vendor feedback, and if the Newbee's are being restricted, I'm sure this will be counter productive for them.
If anyone can enlighten me [which might be rare as I have read only Newbee's can post in here????] it would be much appreciated.
I hope its not some bureaucraticial nonsense

I will enlighten you my dear fellow "newbie" some1 high up in the forums, came up with a STUPID idea to make everyone under 50 posts denied access to post at the forumm...exept here, that is.. so, just post, and post , and so on, until 50 posts are reached..
Im luckily not to far away, still annoying as fuck...
47 now.... you just need to post 31 more ;)
-
Needs to be more reasonable, 50 posts is way too many for people who don't want to be spammy assholes. Up until this point I've only made posts when I have useful info to provide or when I have a question that has not been asked/answered, and yes I did research before asking. I guess I'll just post random shit for today so I can use the forums again :(
An approach I've seen that seems to be very sensible was a mix of a small number of minimum posts and a time based limit, ie you're a newbie until you've made 5 posts and been online for 3 hours.
-
this is a dumb idea
-
It is a shame.
My earlier suggestion was to prevent newbies starting any new threads, which is what the spammers seem to want most to do, but continue to let newbies reply to threads. That way you can contribute meaningfully to interesting conversations started by established members, whereas in this forum... well, time will tell.

Thanks man.
As I suspected..
I have been on here for 6 months, and chose not to be one of those morons who either narcissistically or suspiciously spammed to get a higher member status.
In the fine words of Einstein, 'Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value'...I'm not doing it, everything I need to post for real; Vendor reviews, help and all other discussion that doesn't compromise my integrity, I will just pointlessly post in this forum, I'm sure this is likely to either be counter-intuitive, counter productive for the new vendors and mostly a complete waste of time on my part, but hey, fuck it, at least I have my integrity.
Thanks for the heads up :)

This is one of the dumbest things I think the admins have done. Like you guys, I am not a new member but I also don't jump in on every discussion or start to flame someone for saying the wrong thing like I see 95% of the members here do. So now that I have less than 50 posts I am unable to post in the vendor reviews or even ask a question? Thanks admins! Great timing too! I placed an order on Tuesday and I need to get ahold of the vendor, however since I have less than 50 posts I can't even post in his thread to get ahold of him!( He has told me that it is easier to get in touch through the review thread) So thanks Admins! It's been nice to use SR for the past few months but I feel as if it is getting too big and they have no idea how to manage all the activity.
-
Well this thread answers my question. This sucks, lol. I need to leave a review for a vendor who im going
on 17 days domestic and this halts everything! :/
-
If you need to get in touch with a vendor, you can still easily message them on SR.
-
I think it should be something more reasonable, but at least it's going to stop the consistent spamming
-
They want more action on the boards because imho, they'll start putting up ads and what not.
Oh well, totalitarianism is just a step away.

Oh thankyou. I have though, he is a vendor everyone is seeming to be having trouble with lately and was going to add to his review thread with the others.
He has seldom communication and has read my last PM without reply. But everyone seems to be in the same boat sooo.. should i just contact SR Admin for resolution, such as refund? B/c auto-finalize is coming real soon.
-
This is a poor solution for lurkers and occasional posters...

this guy is right!
no new threads for newbies but letting them answer all threads would help the community much more.
i won't post anything useful here unless this stupid idea gets removed.
-
Answer:
To keep as much spam as possible here, rather than in the main forums, lol.
-
This whole forum is going to blow up with random things and people putting numbers to get their post counts up. Not complaining because I need to do the same -__-

These guys are spot on. Or at least lower the required posts to 10...

BECAUSE IT'S FUN!

Worst idea ever. Ive been a member of the forums for 3 months providing quality feedback on my purchase history of $5,000 plus dollars and now im unable to contribute at all until i make 15 spam posts

This.
-
just keep on spamming until you can post elsewhere >.>
annoying but not too bad.
-
Because of these new rules I must spam SR forum before I can contribute.. hmm, good work.
-
yeah sucks
-
this is just going to make spam worse as legitimate users will have to make 50 posts a piece of spam to be able to post reviews of received products
-
This is maybe the most fuckin ridiculous idae ever hahah!
Many if not most people who review products are 'newbies' with under 50 posts. A lot just won't bother reviewing or helping out if it means having to come here to spam in order to be able to.
-
What if I need to ask a question fairly urgently but now have to keep making posts here
-
The forums will lose a lot of valuable contributions cos of this shit IMO
-
I'd even go so far as to say the forums have effectively been closed off to new users.
-
Cos if I was completely new I don't think I could be fucked sitting here spamming till I got to 50.
-
i was wondering what was going on, makes sense to do this, to help with all the 0 spammers but i do think 50 posts is a little high.
-
yup just gotta keep posting
-
Well, I'm not spamming so I will just think I will post my experiences of SR in the first 7months as a new thread, so at least someone could get something positive from it.
-
There goes the neighborhood.
-

Unless you were serious about whatever you wanted to do here. Scamming, selling, or just buying. Makes it an investment, since sitting here posting fifty times still takes while. Even if you run it straight through.
-
saves spamming
-
Absolutely.
-
This whole thing is crazy
I've seen other forums using this kind of method, but the post count for having access to everything, was like 5 or 10, and that was still quite high.
-

Great idea
-
Well, that explains it. I thought I got stealth-banned, but I couldn't imagine why. I posted a nice command line tutorial for GPG to be helpful, then suddenly I can't post replies thanking people for suggesting additions to it.
So I guess we're spamming this forum until we hit 50. That's the trouble with restrictions -- people will always find the quickest and easiest path through them.
-
This is better than the other forums anyway
-
I don't think regular posters can post in here. So they can't answer your questions. They need to fix that.
-
50 post...
-
Odd that no one has posted on here since Feb...?
