It's not a hack - the forums were just updated to the latest release of simple machines. See below, scroll to bottom of page. Now running version SMF 2.0.3 We had 2.0.2 this morning.

While we are on the subject of avatars, can anyone explain why so many people have the same avatar on here?
I keep seeing that kurt cobain one, and the weird model guy that dondada uses, and the creepy dude with the mustache. Many others.
Are you guys all pulling from the same avatar pool or is it to cause confusion or what?

That "creepy dude with the mustachio" happens to be Freddy Mercury. Can you honestly tell me you don't recognize that face? I'm not ragging ya, I'd just really like to know how one could grow up not knowing who owns that face..... :-\

It's the default group of ten or so avatars that ppl can choose from if they want an avatar but dont upload their own. Probably included with the simple machine software. I'm guessing the images are in the public domain or something.
Given the selection, and where we are, it's not surprising the Kurt Cobain and Freddy Mercury are chosen more frequently.

Haha actually I didnt recognize that face. Very familiar with Queen's music, but I don't watch a lot of TV or follow pop culture too much.
And on top of that - he looks almost identical to someone I know IRL - just without the mustache. This is what was throwing me off because I just kept imagining this person I know smiling at me funny.
