Don't worry, norseman17, just 20 more posts till you're there!  There are several threads in this subforum for random posts to boost your count!

Help!!  I am *very* confused with the pgp stuff.  I installed Kleopatra, but now dont have a clue what to do next.  I have read several tutorials, but am even more confused than I was before.  Is there a link that is something like, pgp for dummies, lol?

Here is a great tutorial from astor geared towards Windows users:

If you need to get in touch with a vendor, you can still easily message them on SR.

Yep, just went through all the forums and deleted the spam that accumulated this morning.  :)  Should be looking pretty clean!  If I missed any, just hit the "report" button and I'll take care of it!

Yep, last night it was wayyyyy easier to control the spam because it was all relegated to that single subforum.  This morning, I'm just going through and cleaning up the leftovers! :D

They hit hard last night from about 10pm until 4am - we deleted literally hundreds of their threads and maybe 20 or so of their accounts.  However, we can't be on 24/7, so sometimes the spammers get a head start.  I'm going back through all of the forums and deleting the posts right now so it should clean it up a bit.  :)

This doesn't really help - we're taking care of it as quickly as we can and I'd say we're doing a pretty good job of keeping up with it tonight.

BOOM got this down. its like clockwork.

is there anyway you can change the email you registered on the pgp thing? or just make a new one?

I was totally incorrect about this -- it turns out you CAN change the email you registered with your PGP key.  Here is what another member, Nightcrawler, told me:

Incorrect.  Making a new key is usually easier, but it is entirely possible
to edit keys.

All you have to do is go into Terminal/DOS mode, and then run the following
command:

gpg --edit-key followed by the email address, Key-ID, etc.

For example:

gpg --edit-key nightcrawler@sr
gpg (GnuPG) 1.4.13; Copyright (C) 2012 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
This is free software: you are free to change and redistribute it.
There is NO WARRANTY, to the extent permitted by law.

Secret key is available.

gpg: using classic trust model
pub  4096R/BBF7433B  created: 2012-09-22  expires: never       usage: SC
                     trust: ultimate      validity: ultimate
sub  4096R/FF98C3EA  created: 2012-09-22  expires: never       usage: E
[ultimate] (1). Nightcrawler <Nightcrawler@SR>
[ultimate] (2)  Nightcrawler <Nightcrawler1@tormail.org>

At the prompt you can use the folloiwng commands:

adduid - to add another user-id;

deluid - to delete a user-id.

Nightcrawler <Nightcrawler@SR>

This is the dumbest fucking idea since the "Jump to Conclusions" mat.

Sorry you feel that way, lesseroftwoweevils, but it was necessary to do SOMETHING - ANYTHING - to help make the spam more manageable.  But, this is a new feature, so I'm sure DPR and the admins will be keeping an eye on it over the next few days to see whether or not they're happy with its function.

Who knows if it'll last or not, but I'm sure they'll see these suggestions and criticisms and make the best decision that they can for the community.

3673
Yeah, hopefully over the next several days it will continue to help!  I truly believe that's why they made this Newbie section - to make sure the Newbies who got access to the rest of the forums are actual users, and not spam-bot scammers!

Someone else around SR is in a similar situation, unless it was me talking to you under another alias over on the marketplace!

Either way, I'm terribly, terribly sorry to hear that your mom's health has taken a negative turn.  :(  Has your mom also had strokes alongside the kidney/liver damage?  If the strokes are what has caused her mental functions to deteriorate, then that might be a separate issue from the kidney/liver failure.  Obviously I'm not a doctor, so I don't know, but I wanted to let you know you're not alone.  Even if you were the one I was talking with over on SR!

And how are people supposed to get to 50 posts if all they can post in is one shitty newbie board? Ain't nobody got time for that.

well, several people seem to be getting their 50 posts all in.  lol.
