UPDATE: Bitinstant support told me they would be sending out my coins. No coins sent, AGAIN!

So I've been taken for 500USD by Bitinstnat.

I know that their is a lot of talk about Bitinstant here but seriously, to all the newbies reading this, DO NOT TRUST BITINSTANT.COM

They claim to be fast, but I'm over 5 days and their support takes more than 24hrs to reply to me once.

Get on their case!  If they said they were sending again and they didn't, call their support number until someone manually sends the payment.  Make sure they also refund you the 4% fee because taking 5 days is UNACCEPTABLE.

You're right - in order to sell anything here, you need a vendor account.  Since it's just an ipad that you're wanting to sell, why not use eBay?

In an unofficial capacity, I say:  SWEET!!!!  AWESOME JOB!

In an official capacity, I say:  Just be sure to be cautious and prudent!

Hopefully that makes my position a bit more clear.  :)

As I said, I appreciate the efforts and sympathize, of course -- believe me, I've spent hours - as have the other mods - deleting their threads -- all I'm saying is that it's up to the admins to sticky or not sticky the thread(s).

3622
Guys, we all appreciate the effort and the zeal to get back at these spammers, but I'm not sure DDOS'ing them is going to bring the right kind of attention to SR, or a non-retaliatory reaction from the spammers.  For that reason, I can't sticky the threads.

If the other mods or admins have a different opinion, they're free to sticky the threads if they so choose.

But in general, I don't think SR supports or encourages the community to attack other sites ... even if they are obnoxious spammers!

Ok, I get it SR has to keep the scammers off the forum.
I am a vendor, now I can't answer questions on my review threads.
But I still can see the fourm littered by bitcoin sellers.

Who is this new system punishing?

Vendors like me.

If you have been a vendor for a long time and have more than 35 transactions, you can message one of the admins and request permission to be let into the vendor forum.  Vendors can post anywhere on the forums, regardless of their post count.

The road keeps rejecting my log in information. When I messaged DPR I included my seller accounts password and pin so that he knew I was who I said I was. I am going to try messaging DPR again with my password and username.

Good luck to you!

I agree with scout, although I sympathize with your situation.  Sounds like you need to be more careful...if you managed to get into your accounts finally then you should be able to get into your sellers account, or the police have it.

If they deleted your account for you, than anyone with a 3.0 in highschool english let alone any creative writing, english Lit, or similar college major could write a convincing letter to admins asking for someone shut down saying it was them afraid of cops (or similar situation as yours) and have a seller SHUT DOWN!  Now wouldn't it be convenient if I shut down people selling the same thing as I am...get rid of competition?

Oh, I definitely sympathize with the OP, but I also think that it's kind of crappy to claim that SR / DPR scammed him when:
a) he isn't successful logging into his own account; and
b) he doesn't even know that his bitcoins AREN'T still there.

mrRex is right - they can't bend the rules for one person.  It might be different if you were logged in and messaged them requesting that they delete your account ... but there's no way they'd risk it by deleting an account for someone who randomly messages them from another identity.  Competitors would be doing that to each other all the time!

For future reference, NEVER keep your usernames / passwords for SR on your iPhone!  Why would you do this?  And why would you be talking on the phone to anyone about your SR vending?  You say that the cops tapped your phone and were able to get evidence that way.  There is no reason you should be talking on the phone to anyone about selling drugs on SR!

3627
No one stole your money.  You say you asked DPR / SR to delete your accounts, but that you couldn't log in?  Why would SR support delete anyone's account when the request is coming from someone who isn't able to log in?

Why aren't you able to log in?  If you are the vendor you say you are, shouldn't you have the necessary login info?  Otherwise, I can't see how SR support / DPR would be able to know that you aren't just trying to scam someone.

No one has the ability to access accounts - that I know of - except for admins / DPR.  No mod could do much of anything to help in this situation.

Did you do what I recommended and start a thread on bitcointalk.org?

If you're trying to encrypt a message, then you would just encrypt the text, copy it, and paste it in the message box if you're sending a message, or in the address field for your shipping address.  It's considerate to include your key in the encrypted message, or at least message it to the vendor in case they want to use it.

« on: January 20, 2013, 08:06 am »
My main concern other then having stuff shipped to my home address and trying to find a po box that will take fake info, is the FE that is required for newbie.  Should we just look around until we find someone that will do escrow if they ask us to FE?  or are we sorta required to take the change before anyone will trust us?

HELL NO!  You are NEVER truly required to FE!  Some vendors will put that on their profiles, but it is actually against the rules to REQUIRE early finalizing.

Yes, you should always look around until you find a vendor who lets you stay in escrow.  Never, never, NEVER finalize early!
