Yeah, luckily you can't see the avatar up close or I'm sure mine would look like crap!  lol

hehe - sorry for the worry it caused!  it's really random when it happens.  i wasn't having this problem for most of the weekend and then all of a sudden tonight the issue was back!

not worried about it though - it's just a glitch.  :)

I'm still having the strange image issues and have let the admins know multiple times.  Hopefully they'll have it fixed soon.

Anyone who has been here for more than a few weeks knows about the spam problems we have had with bitcoin scams -- and would know that this 50 post policy was introduced in order to give the moderators a chance to catch and delete the spammers' accounts and their spam before their posts spill over into the rest of the forum, flooding it, and causing people to be scammed out of their money.

I didnt meen it to come out the way it did Scout. I dont reely know how to explain myself sometimes even tho I do actualy try. I gess we can disagree on how much of a problem this is tho. But I never sed anything was your fault or anything remote. no one here, except the slow ones, think that. Dont worry about it. im still trying to figur out this glich on my own, or whether this is not a glich. dont worry about it tho. its a disgrace that it's even there to begin with but I will sort it out myself.

May I ask what "glitch" you're referring to?  I'm aware of the image glitch, but maybe there's something I'm missing?  Let me know!

Newbie discussion / Re: Anyone for the 50 post bright idea?
« on: February 04, 2013, 02:44 am »
so when you catch him will we be able to use the main forum normally or is there still a post threshold to be reached?

When the spammer hits the forums, he is able to post over a dozen new threads within 60 seconds.  As soon as we spot the posts, we delete them and the spammer's account.  When one of us is online, we're usually able to catch and delete the spammer before they've reached the 50 post threshold, so he doesn't succeed in spamming the main forums.  On the rare occasion that one of us is NOT online when the spammer hits, yeah, they might be able to post over 50 spam threads that then spill over into the main forums.  For the most part though, we're able to catch them before this happens.

Just spent the last hour responding to angry PMs, posts, and threads about the 50 post requirement.

So discouraging.  I just wish people would display some amount of understanding or patience - or at least not take their anger out on us.  We don't implement these changes, but we do our best to trust that the admin / DPR have good reason to make the decisions that they do.

Anyway, just wanted to come back to this thread because it's more encouraging.  Going to +1 the last 3 pages.

If you want people to get to know the forums, use a test, which I'm sure a lot of older users would fail.
This is equivalent to requiring 50 hours of Grand Turismo play time to get a drivers license.

The 50 post requirement isn't intended as a way to force people to "get to know the forums" -- although that would be the best way to use your time here.  The 50 post requirement is in order to give us time to identify and delete the "virwex" aka "bitkoin" aka "bitcointalks" scammer's spam before it floods the rest of the forums.

Customer support / Re: Vendor registration
« on: February 04, 2013, 02:22 am »
If you're a new vendor, it's unlikely that you currently qualify .... but once you have been here awhile and have at least 35+ transactions -- as well as a link to your vendor profile here in your forum signature -- you can send a message to inigo to request access to the vendor forum.

Ive spent the last 3 hours trying to figure out why access is limited to the main posts. I still dont know how many posts i need

Have you read the forums at all?  The answer is easy to find because it's in most of these thread titles!  The number of posts you need = 50.

bite bigger cookies than that peeple, u know what reely sucks? The fact that posts are beingpulled left rite and center on a daily basiss and for no reeason. and no, dont tell me that aint a big problem.

And tha fact that people cant even email other menbers. have you tried to email anyne from Sild Road Forums? Try it and see wat hapens. THAT is a far bigger problem than 50 posts.

1.  Posts aren't being "pulled left rite [SIC] and center on a daily basis and for no reason" --- in fact, the only posts we delete are posts from scammers or spammers so I'm not sure what you're referring to here.  I made the mistake of deleting a thread attacking members of the Jewish faith once, and was promptly told only to delete spam / scams.  So, that's all that we, as moderators, have been deleting.  Anything else being deleted is either being done by the person who posted in the first place, or by the admin.

2.  Not everyone here on the forums wants to be emailed -- and most people register for these forums with a fake email address.  That is their right.  It's not a forum "problem" in any way, shape, or form.  Other people register with a legitimate email address but choose not to allow other members to email them.  Again, not a "problem" with the forums.

OK, after half a day wasted of reinstalling Tor and trying to troubleshoot why my "reply" buttons were missing, I finally PM'd someone who explained this new "newbie" policy.

First off, we're not newbies.  We've been vending on SR for 6 months.  We have an established review thread.  Now, not only are new customers not able to join in that thread, we are locked out of our own thread!!!!

Whoever came up with this lame policy should really rethink it.  In the meantime, I guess I've got a whole bunch of spamming to do to get access back to our thread.

If you are a vendor with 35+ transactions and a link to your vendor profile in your forum signature, then you can send a message to inigo and request access to the vendor forum -- which, in turn, would allow you to post anywhere on the forums regardless of your post count.
