No, nothing bad is going on.  DPR implemented a policy where members must have 50 posts in the Newbie forums before being allowed to post on the rest of the forums.

Dammit I want this to be real because I'm looking to get some BTC really quick right now.

I'd even pay 20$ per coin.  >:(

Lol.  Well, 1 btc = ~$23.90 right now, so good luck finding a legitimate bitcoin vendor who is willing to sell them for $20 a piece.

Customer support / Re: Hidden Wiki linking to scam site?
« on: February 10, 2013, 07:40 am »
Like samesamebutdifferent stated, yes, it is a scam / phishing attempt.  Never access SR from any links you find there -- or anywhere else random for that matter.

The ONLY official SR link is:
https://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion.lu/

Bookmark it or memorize it.

(i went ahead and edited out the link in the OP to prevent anyone accidentally trying it.)

Yep, the server overload, I'm sure.  Just like every other time this has happened.  I've been on a few times successfully today, but then eventually get booted again.  This time of the week is always busy here, so it doesn't surprise me.  It'll be fine.

lol ... no need to jump to such dramatic conclusions.  it's just overloaded today/tonight - you can get in for a bit every once in awhile, and then get kicked.  this time of the week is ALWAYS busy here.  the best approach is to accept that this happens, trust that it will be totally functional again soon, and be patient.

This has happened before -- almost always when the connection times out.

The stable release isn't very compatible with Mountain Lion -- or Mail in Mountain Lion, but the nightly builds are.  They are quick to fix issues for the next nightly build as well.  Haven't had any problems in a year of using the nightly builds.

Newbie discussion / Re: 50 rule sux!
« on: February 10, 2013, 06:14 am »
but maybe you can help me:
1. when i order something are my bitcoins converted to usd?
2. when the seller or i cancel the order, will i receive back the btc i paid or what the usd are "worth" atm?
3. how do i properly dose 1g of xanax powder(1000 units)
4. why is the search on sr so rudimentary? ;)

1.  when you order, you pay in BTC and your vendor receives BTC -- there is no USD involved.
2.  yes, if your order is cancelled you should receive back the BTC, but if the vendor is using escrow hedging, you will receive all of your BTC *except* for a small fee for the escrow hedging service.

Maybe someone else can help answer your #3.

This is the one and ONLY legitimate URL for SR:
https://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion.lu/

DO NOT access SR via any link you find on the Hidden Wiki or wherever else.

That's a sad assumption to make.  How do you know they won't be answered here?

Yeah, it's 100% a scam.  It's the same people spamming the forums advertising other scams like "virwex" and "bitcointalks" and "bitkoin" and "mtgix" ... same people, same spammy scam .... you just don't see a whole lot of it because we try to delete it as soon as it is posted.

I wasn't being ugly.  I'm sorry if I offended Godness.  I sent MP codes yesterday too.  That is what has me concerned.

So what was the arrangement?  The vendor asked you to send the MP codes first before he sent you any coins?  Have you heard ANYTHING from him since then?  How much was the MP for?  You won't get any money back from GreenDot, but it still might be worth calling and reporting it stolen.  Not sure what they do with that information since they won't get your money back, but maybe they can deactivate it or something.
