Be careful that you don't reveal too much about your packaging methods or the appearance of your packages!

No worries - I understand the frustration and the implication of the 50 post rule for those who haven't necessarily been as active here.  The rule was a surprise even to us as moderators, but we're all adjusting to it together, and there's always a chance that the staff will tweak the policy in the future (since it is still a very, very new policy!).

It was not due to the posts of new members (you'll see some incredibly ridiculous questions from even the "oldest" members here!) -- it really was primarily created as a way to help us get a handle on the spam, especially since there are only a few of us moderators here, and none of us can be here 24/7.

Anyway, I appreciate that you can kind of understand, even if it is still frustrating to you.

(also, feel free to start a thread to spam to 50 posts, if you'd like.  there are a lot of threads like that in this section!)

Thank you again for taking the time to express your opinion but also hear where we were coming from as well.  :)

I would bank on a admin or mod never even seeing this thread, much less even looking twice at it.

Except that I'm a mod, I saw it, and I responded.  :D

If the OP has been here for very long, then he should know exactly what the forums were like as far as that bitcoin spam / scam went before the admins implemented this policy.  It flooded all of the forums and we had no way to control it before it was all over the place.

With the new policy in place, we at least have a little time to catch the spammers, delete their scamming attempts, and ban them before they reach the 50 posts that would allow them to flood all of the other subforums.  It's for containment, and to give us a bit of an advantage in protecting the community from the spammers.  (the ones who were spamming by starting hundreds of threads all night to advertise their scamming sites like "mtgix" "btkoin" "bitcointalks" and "virwex")

The OP is free to be as upset as he wants and to vent about it, but everyone else faces the same 50 post rule before being able to post on the main forums, and being angry about it (and cursing the people who made this site / marketplace possible) isn't going to do anything to help the situation.

those services might be down, but i would assume that payments that were submitted prior to them taking the services down should be processed - even if manually.

you need to email bitinstant support, or try calling them tomorrow.  if all else fails, post on bitcointalk.org because the owner of the company is usually online there.  his name is Yankee.

Newbie discussion / Re: BTC with MoneyPak

Sorry, but without a vendor account, you are not permitted to sell things here (including a moneypak code).

You can definitely put Tor Browser Bundle on a USB and run it from there ... or even maybe encrypt the USB first and put TBB into a hidden volume (using TrueCrypt).  Or, you can use Tails .... but you'd be better off using it as a LiveCD/DVD setup simply because getting it to boot from a USB with Tails on it has proven pretty damn difficult.

The admins implemented this policy in order to help protect the community against the bitcoin spammers who were scamming people left and right.

Also, if you do a search for it, you will find a thread started by PrincessHIGH where she offers to post people's reviews in the official review thread for their vendor for them, if they are still stuck in the newbie section.

Technical support / Re: Blank Address when making a Withdraw
« on: February 17, 2013, 01:31 am »
If you're talking about what you see on "Account History" after sending the bitcoins to a bitcoin address, then that's normal.  If you "withdrawal" coins by sending them to another btc deposit address, that field will always remain blank.  It's a privacy/security feature.

If, on the other hand, you're sending to a username, that username should show up.

Did you send to a btc address?

DPR mentioned in the announcement thread that if anyone discovered problems like this, they should contact support over on SR and they'll address the issue.

ALWAYS USE PGP.  Encrypt your address every time you send it to a vendor for an order.

As for using your real name and address on the moneygram slip - you will be fine.  It's not a problem.  Buying bitcoins is 100% legal.

Actually, no, it is only risky for the person who is accepting PayPal payment for bitcoins because they are sending out bitcoins (non-reversible) for PayPal (easily reversible).

People would be stupid to sell bitcoins for PayPal.  They will get scammed.

Also, I'm moving this thread to the proper off topic section.
