Newbie discussion / Re: Dangerous Person on SR
« on: March 05, 2013, 06:27 pm »
It is not anonymous.  A bit is not a penny.  A belief you are secure when you are not is a serious fucking bummer.  If this person sells this idea to noobs like myself who accept it as part of their regular ritual (Best processes & practices)... And said noob uses on a site that does not care about privacy like SR.  Said noob could have problems.

no blow needed.....  You can exchange your coin through as many wallets as you like.  If I can see the hops, I say with great confidence anyone can - I am not very smart or on blow.

Okay ... he isn't saying that a bit is a penny!  He's using pennies in a jar as a metaphor.  Also, if you run the coins through a tumbler, then, yes, you are pretty much safe using them here -- bitcoin mixers/tumblers introduce plausible deniability.  Even then, it would be difficult to trace.

Actually, perhaps the problem is that we haven't done ENOUGH blow to understand it ... ;P

(and yes, it seems there has been some excitement here about you this past week!  glad to see you're still around.  truth be told, you add a nice bit of personality to the forums.)  :)

Huh?  I fail to see how this person is "dangerous" .... and, yeah, blockchain has disabled anonymous sending for the time being, but I don't think that makes this person wrong or dangerous.

I'd encourage you to spend a lot more time reading here on the forums because most of those questions could be answered by doing a simple search.

For sure ...  +1 for posting about it!

how do they know that the transfer came from bitcoinfog?  or instawallet, for that matter?  they just see transactions from one btc address to another ... but those addresses aren't labeled as belonging to a specific service, as far as I'm aware ...

also, I don't think LE has any reason to ask you where you are spending your bitcoins, unless they are asking you due to intercepting a package or something.

But there's no way for a site to identify an address as belonging to a specific website ... so I don't understand why that is happening to you ...
