I'm guessing it's because they are using escrow hedging ... which has a fee.  In the future, if you're worried about it, you can use a vendor that doesn't use escrow hedging (it will tell you when you add an item to your cart).

The vendor was probably using escrow hedging, which does involve a fee.

We've been deleting them every day, but they simply re-register the same username and continue to spam via PM.  Brought it to DPR's attention and he said there's nothing else to do right now, so the best idea is to set your forum settings so that it doesn't show when you are online.

I always follow the link from inside Gwern.net's writeup

That's slightly risky.  What if it were compromised?

I recommend memorizing the correct address.

There is only one correct URL:

Newbie discussion / Re: Why are you made to FE if you are a newbie
« on: March 19, 2013, 01:37 am »
Always stay in escrow.  You can buy ebooks or whatever to get a transaction history, but never never never finalize early!

2394
You guys are looking at this all wrong

SR does not profit from scams, they profit from completed transactions

So when you FE, you are telling them you no longer need their escrow and their job is done.

They earned their commission matching buyer to seller and none of you would have been scammed if you didnt FE.

Quoted for truth.

It'll need 6-7 confirmations on blockchain before it shows up in your SR wallet ... so it may still be 1-2 hours or so.

You are not permitted to sell bitcoins (or anything) here without a vendor account.  Locking this thread.  :\

This is not the kind of spam that the 50 post rule targets.  The 50 post rule was implemented to help protect the community by giving us 50 posts worth of time to identify and delete the bitcoin scam spammers before they flood the entire forum.  :\

I have no idea -- all I know is it is not an SR problem ... it's just something with Bitcopia or, like the Bitcopia person said, maybe with MtGox.  Either way, it's on that end of the transaction.  And if it has only been 3 hours, that's not unheard of, so no need to worry yet. :)

Keep in mind though that inigo is pretty busy, so it may take awhile before you hear back.  :)
