You'll need to get in touch with SR Support over on the main site and ask them about it.  We have no access to that info here on the forums.

Scammers will now not be able to make it more then 10 minutes after they commence their shameful shenanigans.
How is that so?
Very simple.

The following came to me in a dream/a little birdie told me/ :

DPR and his team have editted the code and tweaked the system over the last few hours so that whenever a scam is reported, the bitcoin address that money is to be sent to (scammers address), is put into a field known as "Invalid Address". So when the innocent scammee puts in the scammers wallet address and tries to sent them money, they get a "INVALID ADDRESS" in red font (the same if one was too put a few random characters in the wallet address and try to send). Very clever, very efficient, and elegant. Perfect solution. Surprised they didn't think of this before. Now scammers are fucked.

Me and my team might or might not have a friend inside the core technical committee here, we might or might not be able to see things others can't see, or we might or might not just be hallucinating and have imagined this.

I think this is a HUGE plus for SR. This is a good thing that will keep us all safer from these shithead scammerz.
I hope I didn't reveal too much information. Knowing the eager-beaver censorers around here wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets deleted.. but that'd make no sense. This is GREAT news and we should all breathe a sigh of relief.

*I am 26 years in IT Security* My "birdies" and/or "dreams" and/or "hallucinations" are NEVER wrong.

Um ... okay.  How can you claim to have a friend on the "inside" and then claim we are "eager-beaver censorers" ?  You realize that samesamebutdifferent and I are operating according to instructions from DPR and do not delete posts unless they are scams, bitcoin spam, or endanger someone, right?  We don't censor anyone.  :-\

If your post is true, that's awesome that SR implemented a new system to help prevent scams, but I'm pretty sure all of SR staff, support, moderators, and most of the community are all on the same "side" here.

if PL accont isnt fixed within 48 hours there will be 50k in BTC removed to a new site where he has valid sales.  simple s that this is absurd SR would do this with no explanation

You are free to move your btc wherever you like, but I don't think threatening SR is the right way to go about getting your point across.  :-\

They increased the number of decimal places shown, so you've probably had 0.047 in there and it had just been rounding up to 0.05.

What?  DPR made an announcement here about there being an issue with withdrawals.

Thank you for the quick response. Of course I shouldn't FE and this certainly was the last time I was doing it.

So support is principally ONLY given when users do not FE (no exceptions, never)? Admins can't even drop this vendor a mail/reminder that he is responsible to fulfill his side of the deal? Like "We have been informed that... blablabla. Please take care of your shit." ?

I guess a small clap on the hand might already do the trick.

Thanks again,

best regards,

Goadelic

You can use the "report this vendor" link on the vendor's profile and report that he scammed you.  You won't get any of your funds back, but if multiple people report being scammed, SR will look into it and possibly ban the vendor.  When you FE, you assume all risk by leaving the protection of the escrow system.

no changed my SR address for the second transcation and used another fake nameand home address. but the same tor email for both.

That's still probably what caused the 2nd transaction to get stuck.  :(  Hope you're able to contact them soon!

the amount was $383.95 total which i sent on tuesday at 5:14pm eastern time and still havent received. and prior to that transaction i had sent $313.95  the day before on monday night at 10:30pm eastern time which i received a couple hours later on my silk road account.
so my best bet would be to wait untill tormail works out there kinks so i can log on and give bitinstant the order number and proper information that they emailed me on my tormail account?

Okay, that's the problem.  When you make two transactions within that 24 hour period, the 2nd one usually gets "stuck" in their fraud filter because it thinks the second one is some kind of accidental duplicate.  When you placed those two orders, were you using the same fake info for both, and the same bitcoin deposit address for both?

So has it been 6 hours by now and nothing further has come through??  Did you send their Support a message?

Absent moderators?  If you had any idea how many hours samesamebutdifferent and I spend here every day, you'd know we weren't absent!  I agree that SR has made a great mark so far.

I apologize for the multiple comments but I am still trying to figure out exactly how  what you mean since how could you tell if they ever sent the coins since they were routed through other accounts and are unable to be deposited in the SR wallet where the OP listed as the destination. I previously knew enough to just buy bitcoins and use them so I am trying to get a better understanding so I can figure out my own issues when they arrive and give advice in the future.

Basically, as soon as bitcoins are sent, it is broadcast to the network and logged.  The transaction will immediately appear on blockchain.info when you enter the receiving address.  At this point, the transaction is confirmed and logged further until it reaches the receiving wallet here on SR after 6 to 7 of those confirmations.  This happens even if there are delays here on SR, and you will see the transaction on blockchain long before you see the coins actually appear in your wallet.

When SR is having delays, people who make deposits to their SR wallets will typically see the transaction on blockchain along with a large, large number of confirmations.  They may not have the coins show up in their wallet, but they will be able to see the transaction on blockchain.

The fact that there is no transaction showing up on blockchain for a deposit like this means that the transaction was never even initiated by Bitinstant in the first place.  If Bitinstant had initiated the transfer, it would show up on blockchain even if it didn't show up in the OP's SR wallet.  Regardless of the delays SR is experiencing, a transfer in that direction - from an external service like Bitinstant which is not related to SR, to a wallet on SR - will ALWAYS show on blockchain.

what kind of information would be needed for bitinstant to look into things? cause i cant log onto my tormail account to give them my order number. the only information that i can give them would be a reference number that money gram gave me. which by the way i called and they had confirmed that my money was transfered to zipzap. and the other information that i have is my silk road address. also a fake name and home address for anonymity.

They will probably need your order number with them, the BTC address you listed when you placed the order, the amount, the time, etc.

May I ask how much you sent?  Was it a single transaction, or more than one?  Was it within their $500 limit per transaction?  Had you placed any other orders with them within the 24 hours prior to this one?  You should check out bitcointalk.org's forums - there are several threads there about Bitinstant problems and people who haven't received their bitcoins in weeks.

What I am trying to say it that it may not be an issue with Bitinstant, but just that he is trying to put it in his SR account and SR is very behind processing these things at the moment. The problem has been going on since the 1st of the month and the original post was made on the 3rd so cigarsmoke may just have to wait another day or two until SR gets back on track.
In my case I realize the split may be normal but is it normal for it to be post-dated by over a week?

But the OP said he paid Bitinstant and that the transfer from Bitinstant to the OP for the coins the OP purchased never showed up on blockchain.  That has nothing to do with Silk Road or any other site - it is entirely due to Bitinstant not sending out the coins.

If the OP was withdrawing from SR or talking about a transaction involving his/her SR wallet, then it would be a problem due to the current delays here.  But when the transaction is coming from Bitinstant and never shows up on blockchain, that means it was never initiated in the first place.
