You'll want to install the nightly build of GPGTools.

Yep, they'll make it back to you, but if you haven't seen them in 24 hours, go ahead and send a message to SR Support from the main site.

Yes, there have been some pretty long delays recently.  If you haven't received your coins in 24 hours, send SR Support a message on the main site.

You'll need to send a message to SR Support on the main site.  They will look into it and address the issue.

Ya you get fucked in the ass and nothing can be done about it system  ;)

But no honestly do you think any rules should be changed about this or anything done or do you honestly think its fair?

There is no rule requiring people to buy their bitcoins here.  There is something to be said for people doing their due diligence - and also understanding the risks involved.

My thoughts were as long as i went through a vendors listings and he did not provide the service as needed i would be granted a resolution and then a settlement would have been reached fairly but instead he gets banned before resolution can even occur.

But what I'm asking is - are you talking about buying bitcoins from him with an MP?  If so, then what you've described is not the escrow system.  The escrow system is:

you purchase a listing
your bitcoins for that order are sent to escrow
the vendor has no access to payment for the order
you receive the order
you release the bitcoin payment from escrow to the vendor
the vendor receives the bitcoin payment

In that situation, if you don't receive the order, then you don't release the payment to the vendor.  The payment remains safe because it is being held in escrow (where neither you nor the vendor can access it).

When you are buying bitcoins with a Moneypak, you "purchase" the listing, yes, but you have no bitcoins to send to the escrow system - you only have a Moneypak code.  SR uses bitcoins exclusively for trading -- they do not use USD or Moneypak code or any other currency.  Only bitcoins.  So when you're trying to use some other currency to buy those bitcoins, you're not able to use SR's escrow system because it isn't set up to work with any other currency.

SR has control over the funds when they are held in escrow, so SR is able to serve as a middleman for the transaction to provide protection for both parties.

When you use a currency OTHER than bitcoin, SR has no control over it and can't offer protection for either party.

It was through escrow because it was one of his listed items which is still processing in my account as we speak so technically i did go through escrow. I just dont see why the people cant be refunded im sure it was only 3000 total according to people that have posted so far and my 1000 being the most taken so far. Man i sure hope a larger vendor like sugar mama doesnt pull one of these schemes there would be thousands more lost and twice the people pissed off i fucking hate s.r now and will probably never be able to buy anything seeing as 1000 was taken but i do think the moderators are cool atleast your speaking up and actually saying something scout doing your job.

But this thread is about an MP scam ... and MP-to-bitcoin transactions don't occur in the escrow system.  So were you scammed with a Moneypak as well, or are you saying you ordered an actual product to be shipped?

Yep - it's a scammer.  If you don't want to receive those spam messages, you can go into your forum settings and change it so that it doesn't show when you're online.

Well then dont let vendors do mp to btc sales if it was a drug exchange a refund would have been given to all of us its unfair and u know it scout but im not blaming u or s.r

If this were a "drug exchange" then you still would not have been given a refund because you didn't go through the escrow system!

As is clear from the FAQ and the forums, Silk Road is not set up to handle BTC sales.  There is no way to do it in escrow and nothing Silk Road can do for you if you get scammed.  There are plenty of reputable exchanges where you can buy your coins, so use them.

It amazing to me that people will send hundreds of dollars to random people online without doing their due diligence first.  Stay safe guys :)

In case anyone wanted to see the applicable part in the FAQ:

Customer support / Re: Order Cancellaton Question
« on: April 10, 2013, 05:13 am »
I have a question about order cancellation.

If I place an order and it is not yet marked as shipped, I have the option to cancel which places the funds back in my account.

My question is, if I made the order at a time when bitcoins were worth less but in the meantime their value has increased, if I were to cancel my order now would I be refunded the amount of bitcoin I originally spend on the order, or would I just be refunded the dollar equivalent of the bitcoins based on current rate.

Thanks in advance for any advice and help!!

It depends on whether the vendor was using escrow hedging or not:

I'm not sure when you get the refund in these cases, but maybe the other mod, samesamebutdifferent, can answer when he sees this.

One way to avoid getting those PM's is to go into your forum settings and change it so that it does NOT show when you're online.
