Well, I thought it was against the rules to advertise your sales at other markets or to invite buyers to place orders via email / PM as well, but I double checked with DPR today and he instructed us not to do anything about it.  I was confused trying to validate who was actually a vendor and who was not, which is why I asked DPR for clarification.

Question:

With the site being down, do my "x days to auto-finalize" keep counting down? or since access is limited, is a pause put on this counter so people don't auto-finalize during this period.

Not sure how else I can say this: DPR disabled autofinalize while the site is down.

Hey scout just curious,  if SR becomes a site with limited access,  how will they decide who makes the cut and how will they contact this person to let them know?  I am a vendor that deals with heavy traffic on a weekly basis so I assume I would make the cut,  but how would he get in contact with me?

I have no idea what the back up plan is.  We're all in the same boat waiting for DPR's next forum update.

Not sure I buy this claim.  If true, then no one gives a shit about your super secret "reasons" for doing this because they're very obviously all related to GREED.

Why would the government be behind this?  Don't you think they'd rather take down SR in a very public way with big headline busts and the like?  I don't see DDoS'ing SR to push business to other markets as a government tactic.  This, in my opinion, has nothing to do with the government and everything to do with an angry individual or individuals.

why is it redirecting to /closed

That's what it has done before when it is down.  It doesn't mean anything more than that (or at least hasn't in the past).

Will phishing scams always ask for your pin or do they sometimes imitate the standard login?

Phishing scams imitate the standard login but also include requiring your PIN at some point.

My hat's off to you guys; who operate in a sphere I can only imagine, and I claim no expertise in whatsoever. So I have to ask, does the effective totality of this attack (SR, Forums, all of Tormail today) indicate the attack is more or less likely to be a government agency heeding Senator Schumer's agenda, or a 16 year old in mom's basement with an expensive toy?

Honestly - and this is not based on any concrete evidence or any secret inside-knowledge - I feel like this is NOT due to a government agency.  The gov't would much rather make big busts and big headlines about taking down SR and its vendors / buyers.  They wouldn't do it quietly, and they wouldn't do it by simply causing users to migrate to another marketplace.  They want results, and for them, that means busts.  In my opinion, this is much more likely to be due to a rival marketplace or people trying to blackmail DPR or something like that.  Something non-government-related.

Yeah buckle up kids, people are going to start getting mighty fickle here...

Are there are only 2 moderators on here? Scout and thesamebutdifferent?  You guys do good work but there are like over 50k users on here no?

We've been doing this for months with just the two of us as moderators.  With the help of the rest of the community, I'd say we've done well keeping things on the forums from bursting into flames or becoming a giant hat of tinfoil.  :D  Everything will be okay.  The site has been down before with problems, and will be down again - it's the nature of these uncharted waters!
