Silk Road discussion / Re: Auto Finalize N/A
« on: May 05, 2013, 06:52 am »
Autofinalize has been disabled due to the attacks and will be re-enabled once the site has been up for 48 hours without issue.

I've passed this info along to the admins.

This was happening to me yesterday but all good today, the re starting tor browser did work once but then not. As I said so far today all good so it will stop.

While moderators may be looking here my count down to auto finalize date for orders didn't stop during the last few days of downtime. I have sent a message to support but want to make sure this problem gets sorted as i have 2 orders in resolution and time fast running out. Hope someone can help.

Are you a buyer or vendor?  Get in touch with SR Support via the link at the bottom of this page:

ok I will need to read up on extending, etc as you mention. I want to give the benefit of the doubt but also do not want to get burned.

I'm not clear on how it was marked as shipped from day 1, but he claims he only just got my email, and will need a few ore days to ship... all seems odd.

Thanks for your guidance, there is 8 days to go so I have time to figure this out.

Thanks again.

Yeah, it does sound a little strange.  I mean, as soon as a vendor marks the order "in transit" or sent, the buyer's address is destroyed.  When the vendor suggested he's ship in a few days, did he also ask for your address?  Because he wouldn't (read: SHOULDN'T) still have your address after marking the initial order in transit.

If you feel like something might be "off" about a deal - you have every right to cancel the order or at the very least stay in escrow.

No need to apologize for asking questions or asking for help!  My suggestion would be to get in touch with Vendor Support on SR.  They can look into it for you and get it figured out.  I'm not sure though what you meant about why you reset your PIN ...

In any case, get in touch with Vendor Support here:

Sometimes this happens during or after downtime/maintenance.  Not sure why.  I'll pass the info along as well.

Or you can get it from the source:

Thanks for posting that.  I couldn't access SR to get the link when I initially responded.  DPR also got back to me and will be adding his key to the Silk Road wiki.

Newbie discussion / Re: Recent FUD about Atlantis on Silk Road
« on: May 05, 2013, 05:22 am »
I am sick of all the FUD you Silk Road fuckers have been posting about Atlantis.
You all need to get your facts straight before spreading FUD.

Cicero

You are here to do what?  Fan the flames of this somewhat shaky situation?  It's obvious that you are not Cicero.  I've never even been to Atlantis or talked to Cicero and still it's obvious that you are not Cicero!  I tend to think that Cicero & Atlantis still have SR somewhere in their hearts, no matter how deeply buried.  They might be competition, but I don't imagine them showing up on SR to call us "fuckers" ...

Security / Re: where are you getting bitcoins??
« on: May 05, 2013, 05:13 am »
So Bit Instant is no good eh?

Bitinstant is decent as long as you only do one transaction per 24 hour period and make sure it is $500 or less.  (If I'm remembering their policy correctly.)  Problems tend to occur when people attempt to use fake info for multiple transactions in one day but forget to use different btc addresses / names / birthdates / so forth.  They've had their problems, but they're not the worst way to get btc.

As forum moderators, we can't actually see any of your message history - only admin can.  I just asked about the name in case I had heard anything about the specific vendor, but this is the first time I've heard of them.  However, what they're saying is true - the attack on the site as well as the downtime of Tormail recently has probably seriously slowed things up for most vendors who rely on them.

Bottom line - as long as you stay in escrow and do not release the funds until you've received your order, then there's no harm in giving them a few more days.  That is, however, completely up to you.  If you don't want to wait, you can cancel the order and get your funds back.

It's up to you, really, just don't let the order autofinalize on you (when autofinalize is re-enabled) and don't finalize early.  You can either extend the finalization through the resolution center if you want to give them a chance to send you your order, or you can cancel your order altogether.

Technical support / Re: forum registration

Is it possible to change my forum name to same one I use on sr?
When I attempted to do login with this name, an error message indicated that the username already existed.
I then successfully logged in using my sr name, but  it only showed my original forum name (not my sr name).

Is there a way I can remove my forum name, and have it replaced with my sr name (and still keep my post credits)?

Thanks for your assistance.
smitty

If the name you wanted is already taken, there isn't much you can do in that situation.  Can you let me know the name?  I'll look it up and see if the username is actually active or not.

You wouldn't be able to keep your post count, though.

For anyone else wondering - generally, the recommended course of action would be to create a new account with the desired username.

I appreciate that! :)  (I've also sent a PM to DPR about getting his key added to the wiki and asking if I could sticky a thread with it since I've been seeing this request a lot lately.)  Thank you for bringing it up so I would remember to ask him about that too!
