Ugh, we've already had at least one vendor fall for this:

That message was a scam.  :-\

You shouldn't have to change anything in Tor to get to SR .... hmmm ... are you getting any errors in the vidalia / tor control panel error log?

Hopefully someone else can chime in with some suggestions!

Yep, figured this would happen once he finished scamming on Atlantis.  :\

Customer support / Re: Lost over $500

The escrow system is in place for your protection.  As long as you stay in escrow, your money is safe.  The moment you CHOOSE to leave that escrow system, there is nothing SR can do to protect you or offer support in cases of scams.  There is NO reason to finalize early - we warn against it over and over and over again everywhere here!

I'm sorry that you've lost money, but there is a relatively simple step you can take to prevent this in the future:

ALWAYS STAY IN ESCROW.

Double and triple check to make sure you are at the correct URL:

I haven't had the same trouble, so it worries me that maybe you're attempting to login to a phishing site .... or perhaps you just need to restart Tor / use a new identity?

Newbie discussion / Re: How long does it take for BC to SR?
« on: May 13, 2013, 07:20 am »
It usually takes 1-2 hours (at least 6 confirmations) before they show up.  Sometimes it can take longer than that, but if you don't see them in 12-24 hours, send a message to SR Support on the main site.

I'm sure they'll show up though - there haven't been any reports this morning about delayed deposits.

Unfortunately, since you finalized the order, there is no way for SR to get your money back.  Your best option would be to try to work it out with the vendor himself, and you may want to think about editing the feedback you left to reflect that you were scammed.

Actually I still have one question: if, by any chance, liston shipped the product before he was banned and it arrives, will it be possible to finalize and pay him? I would assume it's not possible to pay someone when they're banned, as obviously they'd be unable to access the site, but I'm not totally clear on how selling on SR works, and the finalize link is still clickable on my 'Order' page. I would like to pay for any product that does arrive...shouldn't like to feel like I was ripping someone off, even if they were banned for potentially doing the same. Could anyone shed some light on this technicality? Thanks.

No, I don't think it would be possible to finalize and pay him since he has been banned.  I'm not entirely sure where the btc would go if you clicked "finalize" at this point, but it's safe to guess it wouldn't be going to Liston.

Customer support / Re: My account has been hacked
« on: May 13, 2013, 05:51 am »
If you're using a strong password and never providing your PIN at login, it is highly, highly unlikely that your account was truly hacked.  What is more likely is that you at some point entered your password and PIN into a phishing site.

You'll need to make a new account on SR and message Vendor Support from the new account.

Rumor mill / Re: GoingPostal anyone? what happened to mimm?

MiMM = goingpostal

Hi,  you will have to wait until the resolve link becomes available.  When it does, enter 100% refund and when the vendor doesn't reply, since they cannot, you will receive the money back.  It is my understanding that this type of refund will not show on your stats.

If you want it any earlier you would have to contact SR admin/support and plead with them (politely) to cancel the order for you.

^ what this guy said.  :)

Yep, Thanks Scout. I am clear on this now. I think it's a good idea to get someone to make that section in the Buyer's guide clearer. I'm sure I am not the only one who read that and thought SR encrypted the shipping details for you.

Thank you

You're not the only one, I'm sure.  The way it's written does make it sound like it's unnecessary to bother with encrypting your address yourself ... kind of makes it sound as though it somehow does that for you.

Thanks for bringing this up, by the way -- who knows how many people have read that and thought the same thing!  I did already fire off a message to the admins to see if we could reword that part of the wiki to make things clearer.

+1 to you for finding that and pointing it out!
