I just saw a thread in the vendor forum about this - apparently it was sent to a lot of vendors on SR.  I would recommend that NO ONE visit the site or provide any information to it ...

Did you watch this alleged video of you?

He says he tried searching for the site on google and couldn't find it, so I'm assuming it was just intended to scare him?

That's definitely one thing we have on our side - the ability to prove that the signature is complete BS.

Lol, I don't think most of the vendors fully understand how PGP works. Its kind of sad how low the bar is set to become one. The ones that don't use PGP period need to be suspended IMO.

I agree that it seems like there are an awful lot of vendors who either don't use PGP at all, or use it but don't know how to verify signatures.  It all sounds more complicated than it actually is, and I think that intimidates people into complacency.

The thread discussing why we were moving threads was indeed answered; the member in question was wondering what was up, and I responded stating that we're simply trying to move things to the correct categories.

If you are one day made a moderator then you will be required to make the calls on which categories you believe topics fit into. For the time being, that responsibility falls on myself and the other forum moderators.

To be absolutely clear, this was actually something spurred on by RxKing, so SSBD and I started moving threads to their proper places in an attempt to keep the forums a bit more organized.  We had just started focusing on that (me, in particular) right before Libertas was brought on.  So if something was moved, it could very well have been me. 

The thread about "Am I just smart or are my friends just really stupid" ... initially when that popped up, I moved it to Off Topic because I didn't think it was really fitting for the SR subforum.  Upon doing that, I received a PM from the user who started the thread asking me to move it back to the SR subforum, and providing the reasons he thought it belonged there rather than Off Topic.  I then moved it back to the SR subforum because I thought he made a good argument about why it should be there.

You have to realize - there is no specific rule about what goes where, so we have to go by our best estimation and do what we think is best.  It's a matter of opinion, of course, but we can only do the best that we can in making those decisions.

Furthermore, if we ever move something and someone thinks we were wrong in doing so, they are free to message us explaining why, but for the most part, we're just trying to keep things more organized than they were.  It's not a malicious action.

I don't consider Off Topic to be a dumping ground in a negative way - I see it as a subforum for threads that don't quite fit clearly elsewhere.  It doesn't mean anything about the value of the thread.

Sometimes I move a thread that SSBD or Libertas wouldn't have moved, or vice versa.  Libertas is exactly on point when he says that if there were a "Silk Road forum" subforum, it would have been moved there instead of Off Topic.

Another thing, as this is right on topic. I took a week off forums and my karma was untouched. Since I have started this thread my karma has jumped from -59 to -68 in 24 hours upon even vaguely referencing that mods were going off second-hand information without even bothering to contact the right sources, and negging selected people constantly as a result, and that nomad bloodbath was a good moderator. Also, PrincessHIGH was negged within one minute when she mentioned that nomad was a good moderator too. Sorry but I find all these little coincidences just little too convenient. Perhaps you could assure PrincessHIGH and I there are no hard feelings present and that we have the right to like one moderator over another without any jealousy arising? Or we might start to get the wrong idea?

I'm not sure why this is brought up over and over again - we all respect nomad and agree that he did a great job while he was moderating the forums.  I very much enjoyed getting to work with him for awhile before whatever happened happened.  The fact that you see him as a great moderator is not something anyone would be upset by.

You are seeing coincidences and making them into more than that, which they are not. 

With PrincessHIGH, again, this simply not accurate.  You've all made quite clear that you prefer the way things used to be when nomad was moderator, and there is nothing wrong with you expressing that.  I can assure you it is NOT something I would neg anyone over, and I can almost guarantee that Lib and SSBD wouldn't either.  We have ALWAYS been appreciative of all PrincessHIGH has done for the community - especially the awesome threads she made in the newbie subforum and the amount of time she put into helping new members with questions they had.  I have personally thanked her multiple times for her contributions here. 

None of us have any problem with PrincessHIGH at all, and whatever neg she received was not from one of us. 

SSBD and Libertas don't have to assure you that there are no hard feelings present ... I can tell you without even talking to SSBD or Libertas about it that NONE OF US have ANY hard feelings toward you or her.  Why she was brought into all of this BS, I have no clue.

Again, the three of us are not the only users here and I don't think any one of us is so petty as to resort to negging people simply because we disagree or don't all get along!

The only reason I'm even posting in this thread is to defend Libertas and his decisions because I know he has the community's best interests at heart in each and every one of his actions here on the forums.  If people are that angry, they are free to blame me, because I'm the one who re-energized the whole "moving threads to keep things more organized" practice after a PM from RxKing where he very bluntly but CORRECTLY chastised me for not keeping things more organized.  The SR subforum was a mess, and he said it was one of the things that people complained about to him on a pretty regular basis.  So I made a point to pay more attention to the location of all the threads popping up. 

Libertas was brought on soon after that, and helped invigorate the organization effort even more.  I stand behind his decisions here 100% (after all, I was the one who recommended him to fill the open position and DPR reviewed his post history and agreed that he was the right candidate for the team), and the things he is being accused of here are unfounded and unnecessary. 

You and PrincessHIGH are obviously well-respected members who are integral to the community.  You are both free to post all you want about past moderators and how much more you liked them - it's absolutely okay.  I, myself, was a huge fan of nomad since the first day I found these forums - we had a great rapport even after his moderating privileges were removed.  It's not a surprise that people remember him so fondly - I'm one of those people myself!  So, that's totally fine, of course, and is not a reason that any of us would be hurt, jealous, or angry ... nor is it a reason for negging someone!

In fact, I'm pretty sure we ALL miss nomad's presence in the community and have never said anything otherwise.

Basically, lay off of Libertas - he's making the best decisions he can based on wanting to do the best job that he can for the community, and he is doing a damn good job. 

If you have to blame one of us for something, feel free to blame me and leave Libertas and SSBD out of it.  They are both assets to this community far more than I am, and the long hours they spend here are hours of their lives that they are sacrificing for the community because that's how much they believe in it, and how much they care for it.  We all do.  So, please, come on, stop harping on Libertas moving this thread and stop accusing him of being responsible when you receive negative karma.  It's none of us that are giving it to you or to PrincessHIGH.

Not everyone is always going to agree with each other about where a thread fits best, but we're doing the best job we can and making the best decisions we're able to make.  So, please, lay off of Libertas - he has answered your questions here and explained himself when he didn't even need to.  If you have further issues with any of us, then please contact us directly to discuss the issues and don't just post accusation after unfounded accusation.  Libertas is a great mod who has made some great, positive changes here already, as you yourself said in another thread.  To take it further, SSBD has also been an awesome moderator.  As has nomad, Guru, and pretty much every past moderator!  On the flip side, you and PrincessHIGH are BOTH also respected, amazingly helpful members of the community. 

So why can't you all realize this about each other - even if at times you disagree on where threads should go?
