Customer support / Re: preset refund rate from OldAmsterdam

Yes, SR staff can view the messages if necessary.

I don't understand how the scam would work.

As long as no one FE for new vendors, we should be ok right?

Forgive me, I don't know what is HackBB.

As long as you do not finalize early, you will be okay, that's correct!

The only people who can help are SR Support ... so unfortunately, you will just need to wait until they respond because there isn't anything we can do from our end here on the forums.

Newbie discussion / Re: Is it allowed to offer Medicines here?

Sorry, no, you absolutely cannot sell anything here without a vendor account.  However, keep in mind that the vendor bond is refunded after certain conditions have been met.

I think it is very unfair to any buyers that are scammed, for SR to make profit on their unfortunate loss and I, without doubt, think the money should be returned to the buyer. Obviously, it isnt much... but at least its something

There is already protection in place to prevent people from being scammed.  All they have to do is STAY IN ESCROW.  In those cases, the buyer is absolutely refunded.  When you choose to leave the protection of the escrow system, there is nothing that SR can do because the buyer has already released funds to the vendor and "finalized" the transaction.  Once it has been finalized, there's nothing for SR to do because finalizing the order implies that it has been received and that the buyer is happy with it -- otherwise, they shouldn't be finalizing!

Buyers need to take some responsibility here - it is incredibly simple and easy to avoid being scammed by just staying in escrow!

I don't think it's possible to provide information on when an account was created and if it is active.

Sorry to hear about this.  He is indeed a scammer.

Hey guys,

Kind of a noob question, but would there be any benefits to registering a seller account with a 2 yr old account that has transactions on it? Would I be able to (or would it be advisable to) order with the account after it becomes a seller account?

Thanks!

NO, you should ABSOLUTELY start a new account for selling, otherwise any vendor you've purchased from will know your info, which in turn puts you and your customers at risk.

Silk Road discussion / Re: Vendor bond
« on: May 23, 2013, 06:48 am »
Calling out for vendors who received their bond.  I know that you must either sell $1500 worth of product or 35 successful transaction and be a vendor for 6 weeks.  Is Silk strict about being a vendor for 6 weeks?  Has anyone tried and received their bond before 6 weeks.  I've been a vendor for 4 weeks and have done both of the other requirements, just waiting on the 6 weeks.

Thanks for any input!

I think they'll expect you to wait the 6 weeks.

You need to send a message to Vendor Support over on SR itself.

I don't think there's much of a chance of getting DPR to change this policy.

I'm curious as to why you think that?

Because he has several times recently clarified to me/us that selling vendor accounts is allowed.  The only things not allowed are those which sole purpose is to harm others.  If you want more clarification, I can certainly ask again, but my feeling is that this is in line with the rest of SR's free market policies.

Um, so, what is the benefit to selling an account other than if it was being used to deceive others aka "harm" others?

A vendor account doesn't harm others - an asshole scammer running a vendor account does, but a vendor account itself does nothing to deceive or harm others.

I let DPR know that you all want him to chime in, and sent him a link to the thread.

Locking this thread as the OP's problem has been resolved.

Well, that's certainly your decision to make.  I'll lock this thread now, but if you end up writing a review in the Newbie subforum that you'd like me to move for you, please don't hesitate to send me a PM!

359
So hypothetically anyone can just make a burner account then and post the entirety of a thread, or the entirety the vendor forum in public?

Hypothetically, yes.  I made the mistake of wanting to delete a thread that was copied from the vendor forum, but was corrected.  For the time being, DPR has advised us not to remove any threads copied from the vendor forum.  Granted, that could change eventually, who knows, but for now, he has asked that we leave them alone if they appear on the main forums.
