The SR shirts thread made a few good points about wearing the SR logo, you dont want to make yourself a target. But what about just leaving the logo all over towns, kind of like a viral marketing thing. I did some digging and found that someone had made a 2560x2560 SR logo reproduction

What do you all think, would you buy a stack of stickers?
-
Most people wouldn't recognize the logo.
-
They will when the media gets a hold of it.
-
Do you really think that putting your finger prints on a vandalism charge with an obscure logo is a wise choice?
-
The cop car thing was a joke, i dont actually recommend defacing a cop car. But if these started showing up all throughout the country....

...call me a pessimist, but i dont see what the point of this would be :S?
imo, i dont think SR needs marketing. i think an inflow of customers would not be positive for the community, as it would strain the vendors' manufacturing/delivering operations, and we'd see an increase in prices as well as possible recurrent supply shortages.
if you think it would be beneficial, could you express your opinion? wonder what your point of view is.

I'm pretty sure SR doesn't want/need advertising. No sense in drawing unneeded attention to ourselves. Atlantis boldly advertised themselves and look what happened to them.
Think about it: if stickers, etc. start popping up and somehow LE realized what the logo meant, all it would do is piss em off and make them aware that people in the area are using the site. That may lead to a closer watch on the mail. Why would you want that?
-
I disagree, yet I agree.
While I don't think silk road seeks nor wants any more attention at this point in time I do like the idea of some Psyops.
Stickers like that are how you seal the deal for that one person who heard of silk road that one time, never visited but "Ooh yea isn't that the silk road logo"
Right now the best advertising silk road could possible do is showing how it's never going away and undescript camels on every power-line there is a pair of used Chock Taylor's hanging from sure is one way to get the message across

Indeed. The less public news (or even consciousness) of SR, I feel, the better.

I have several golf shirts that have very small logos on them, so small you have to look closely to even tell what they are. Polo brand shirts have a little horse with a polo player on it for a logo.
I wouldn't mind having one with the SR camel on it.

I was kind of starting to like you until you decided to type all this dumb shit.
Turns out you ARE fucking retarded.

"NEWSFLASH: Mysterious green camels appearing all over town. We'll tell you what they represent if you stay tuned."
It would definetely get people talking...
i am pretty sure vandelism has to be permanent to be illegal. I.e. drawing a peace sign with chalk is not illegal, with spray paint, it is.
besides, just use two pair of latex gloves, or pay some kids to do it....
-
Sounds fun. Just simple stickers on stoplights/light-posts at crosswalks; no words. Something subtle.
But I don't think any vendor should start mass-producing them, selling them in any quantity.
If individuals put up printed sheets of paper with scotch-tape, we'd deliver the same "message".
-
Bad idea.
The "T-Shirt" thread you refer to, brought up some good points. - All the ones that said is was a stupid idea. The fact that you'd bring it back up after we flushed that Beavis from down under Mushroomhead, is unfortunate.
Channel that energy into helping someone. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. :P
Do you even buy drugs here? Or are you just caught up in the whole pop culture aspect to it all? This is a drug site, mostly what happens here constitutes a felony, or capital crime, depending on your locale.
Back to the drawing board.

+1 jagfug.

They will when the media gets a hold of it.
or DPR decides to sponsor a sports team with Bitcoins lol, he's already doing Forbes interviews... it's only a matter of time and we'll see a Silk Road F1 Team...
what a perfect world that would be!

My point exactly... like I said, I highly doubt DPR would appreciate this.

Stop trying to make Silkroad sensational to feed your own ego.
Nuff said.

Well spoken. All who need services of Silk Road will find here way or another. I treat this place like a secret society because of the illegal aspect in it; regardless the liberal thoughts of DPR. I don't mix it with my real life.

Umm, do you really think the police would have forensics try to pull a finger print off of a sticker put on a cop car? I really doubt they would go through that kind of effort for a measly sticker on a car.

I doubt the aggressive advertising by ATL contributed to its downfall directly...If anything it may have gone out sooner, without the initial advertising .
DPR would love to walk down the street and see camels all over the place, he would give a smirk and then pretend as though he had no clue what the camels mean.

My thoughts exactly... seriously I dont even tell close friends about SR maybe one or two people... And I realized even that was a bad idea, word spreads quick then all theyre friends are like "This dude is getting drugs in the mail!! he can get anything!!" I wouldnt want it to spread to news/media outlets then to local LE which could lead to a closer watch on mail... I only see way more cons than pros coming from this, bad bad idea IMO
what is/was atlantis btw?

Would be far more likely if someone recognized the logo as belonging to an online black market.

Atlantis (ATL) was a black market drug site similar to SR. It just recently got shut down, just in the past week or so I believe. The people behind it made a fucking Facebook page for it, advertised it openly, all kinds of dumb shit. Basically just giving the finger to LE and taunting them to "Come get us!" I didn't know about them either until recently. Made an account, never used it and then they got shut down. Whatever, from what I hear they sucked compared to SR anyway.

I think this is exactly what they'd do. No "crimes" are treated more seriously than those that oppose the state. Cops HATE not being feared (or as they say, "respected") more than anything else. Fuck with their car and they're incredibly likely to lose their shit.

I think this is kind of obnoxious and childish.
