Title: making a deposit
Post by: purpletwilight on September 28, 2013, 04:02 pm
I clicked the link for making a deposit and got a message that I need to change my password and pin and then send deposit to a bitcoin address. I changed password and pin, clicked the link for making deposit again and nothing changed, I got the same message. Is something wrong or do I just have to send the deposit to the bitcoin address specified from outside silk road, directly from my own bitcoin address? Sorry if its a dumb question but I couldn't figure what to do  :-[

Are you using the correct URL and not a phishing site?

That doesn't sound right, you are asked to change your PIN when you make a deposit for the first time but certainly not your pass phrase.

As the poster above suggested can you please confirm the URL you used to access SR, you may have been phished.

From your description I am not entirely sure what the issue is I'm afraid.

You need to send the coins to the btc address shoeing when you click on where it says "account" at the top of the screen.

I'm not sure why you keep on getting asked to change your pass phrase and PIN, normally you are only asked to change your pin when you make a deposit for the first time, unless that's now changed and you are prompted to change your pass phrase too??

Can anyone else offer any insights here?

Do I send btc to the btc address specified directly from my own btc address from outside SR? Is this how it works?

But I don't have a btc address showing where it says account. The message that pops after I click deposit link has btc address where it says I need to send coins, and the same message says to change both pin and pass phrase

Can someone please check it on their account? If you try to make a deposit and get the same message I did it may simply means it was changed and I'm safe sending my coins. All you need to do is hit make deposit link, if you have it like I do

Where are your bitcoins kept right now? do you have them in an offline or online wallet? or have you yet to procure them?

Assuming you already have your bitcoins in a wallet then you send them from that wallet to you SR wallet by copy and pasting your SR btc wallet address that is listed where I said in my previous post. You paste your SR btc wallet address into where it says "send to or pay to" and then enter to amount of btc you want to send.

If that still doesn't make sense you need to go and do a lot more reading before you do anything else, these forums are full of information, I suggest you take full advantage of availing yourself of as much of it as possible before doing anything else ok.
