Title: Vendor claims order was shipped, 9 days later asks for FE before shipping.
Post by: werthere on September 16, 2013, 07:36 pm
So, not quite sure what to do in this situation - figured I would ask on the forums.

I recently placed an order with one of the higher-ranked vendors and 2 days later they confirmed shipment and sent a message, "I appreciate your business and wanted to let you know your order is on its way. Have a great week!"

9 days later, I get the following message from them:  "I've marked your order as "In Transit". Because your account is new without purchase history and it is an international order, I request early finalization. I will hang on to your order until you click "finalize". Please message me once you've done so and I'll let you know that I've shipped the order."  They haven't logged in since they sent that message (about 4 days ago).

That is just seriously fucked up... and now they have been inactive for >3 days and were auto-set to vacation mode.  It seems obvious that this vendor has either been compromised or turned ripper.

Should I report this to someone?

Personally I would say to the vendor if escrow is not an option then can you please just cancel the order. If you FE you give up all your protection and based upon what you have described my confidence would not be very high right about now. If they will not cancel take it to resolution when you are able, the vendor has stated they have not yet shipped your order and you are well withing your rights to ask for the order to be cancelled if they are asking you to FE.
