i just downloaded the latest version of tbb and after exporting my bookmarks in the new browser i went to delete the old version as i obviously don't need the old one anymore. the thing is it wont delete, when i try it i get a dinging sound then a small window opens saying..
Cannot delete libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll:Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write protected
and that the file is not currently in use.
this never happened when i updated before, the whole tbb deleted easily without any problems.
so i'm kinda worrying if there might be some kind of spy/malware that has got in and is causing this to happen. i know its probably not that but you can never be too careful i guess. here's some screenshots of what happens..

its not all the files in the tor folder that won't delete however. when opening the folders and deleting singularly i found it was just vidalia.exe and 6 .dll files in the app folder

it seems these files have probably somehow got write protected for some reason but i have no idea how. i would still feel better if i could get rid of these files though just to be on the safe side. so does anyone know how i go about deleting write protected files?
thx

Go to your "Task Manager"
Make sure that "Vidalia Control Panel" is Not running.
If that doesn't work, then come back and let us know.

The problem is that some program is still using those dll files. It's actually rather stupid of Windows, if you ask me, because technically nobody is using the file itself and it's already been loaded into memory. But it's just one of those things, Windows still won't let you delete it.
It is a little odd that it's libgcc though... gcc is the most common compiler in Linux environments, but usually even cross-compiling for Windows people use MingW. Which is actually just a gcc for Windows, when all is said and done... but the libs are usually named mingw, not gcc. Huh. Well whatever, just caught my eye is all.
To un-write-protect a file, just right-click it, select "Properties," and un-check the "read-only" box. If it isn't checked, you're positive Vidalia isn't running (see ChemCat's post about the task manager), and the stuff STILL won't delete... well, try a reboot and then deleting them again.

shit, i'm embarrassed guys. i was thinking that because i had open the new tbb, that the old tbb would be closed and the files would be deletable. but obviously not. i closed it all with task manager and the files deleted.
+1 for you all tho
in my defense i was pretty high yesterday as well tho, lol.
