Title: Bitcoins sent to wrong account (My old account, password lost)
Post by: Locker on September 06, 2013, 05:21 pm
Hi,
I am not sure if you can do anything about this but I have nothing that I can do and for me It's a large amount of bitcoins to be wasted (And also I do need the bitcoins). I was recently sent bitcoins from the forum user John Gotti (not sure of his silk road name), but he sent it to my old account. I had a Silkroad account a long time ago called Locker, that I lost the password to and am unable to access (which was within the first week of creating), so I had to create another one called Lockerp. Now the two are extremely similar, so when I told him my silkroad account was lockerp I failed to emphasize the p, and he just assumes it was the same as my forum account locker. He sent 0,35btc's to the account locker, but I am unable to access it. I was just wondering if there was a way I could retrieve the bitcoins from the account, seeing as its my redundant account that I am unable to use?

I suppose the only proof that it is mine is that I clearly have the same name, and now use my account lockerp. It was also made (If i remember correctly) in the same week as my forum account (Around May 3rd 2012). I really hope you can, because I really do need these coins and theyre going to sit there for the rest of the silk road days if not. :/

I could also provide the Account Security Pin if required, as I think I remember that, if that would be any better proof to the ownership of the account.
It would be great if you could help me cheers,
Locker.

This was simply an enquiry to see if i am able to take it further and get my coins, but I'm about to create a support ticket anyway. I thought the moderators would know, so I thought I might as well ask here first (As told to do when creating a support ticket).

As the poster above said, follow the instructions for a pass phrase reset on the account you have lost access too, instructions are in the sticky at the top of this board.

I will try, but I never made any transactions on it and this was a long ago that I made but :/
I would have thought that they could just retrieve the coins and send them to me, the account hasn't been accessed for long enough.
I expect the only option is to try go through the process of a f

Doesn't matter, all you need is the BTC address used to fund the account to verify yourself as the rightful owner and you clearly have that.

Copy/paste the address you want to send your coins to every time, this is simple and prevents dumb mistakes.

I always do this, but even after writing it properly I was not the one sending the coins, and he made the mistake.

But it's ok, it's been sorted now.
