Title: Mastermind Design Scam
Post by: mayimilani on September 05, 2013, 01:35 am
Hi SR community,

I am having serious issues with Mastermind Designs. I placed an order for one of his (incredibly expensive) coins on August 10th. He marked the item as shipped on August 13th. He still hasn't sent the coin or the tracking number despite multiple requests. I already gave him a 2 week extension in the resolution center. He doesn't seem to read him emails.

Here's the issue: Even if he gives me a 100% refund, I still lose:
1) My refund rate will appear on my stats page. I haven't been on SR long, and have only dealt with 3 other vendors.
2) Even if I win in resolution, my order was hedged, so I'm subject to fluctuations in bitcoin values. Bitcoins have risen nearly 50% since I placed the order. I purchased the bitcoins as an investment.
3) I think what he's doing is dishonest. He lies when he does send messages, he doesn't fill orders, and I think he's running some kind of scam.

What do you advise?

I'm thinking things likes this happen unfortunately.  Your best bet is to get what you can back and adjust your feedback then post about it here.  Not much else you can do.  Hopefully you have better luck next time.

Thank you. That really is a shame. All of my other experiences on SR have been positive.

Yeah, this guy has apparently been at it for a little bit. Always be sure to do a quick search on forums to try and find reviews of the vendor you are buying from. Wish this hadn't happened, it is truly a shame to be out of that type of money. http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=189835.msg1373174#msg1373174

Thanks, Reez. I was relying on the posted feedback before. I hope this guy doesn't get away with this in the future.

Sorry to hear of this situation. >:(

I advise you to look at my listings and if you want anything, let me know. It's yours, free. (quantity within reason).

On behalf of the well-intentioned portion of this community I want to show you that aside from a few punk ass motherfuckers, most people here are decent, compassionate individuals.  :)

wow, im sorry that happened to u, I have to admit i didnt help either, I ordered from him too and after a week I told him he was getting a bad feedback score so he just sent me the money back as long as I gave him good feedback, i shouldnt have done that.  The reason I did was because on his profile it said "by ordering this you are agreeing to leave 5 outta 5, so when he said that I was kind of put in a bind.

Thats why i hate when vendors put that.  "By ordering you are gonna give me 5 outta 5 even if i suck and dont send it or i send it next week and the product is laughable or just  baking soda you wont get high from"  that defeats the purpose of giving feedback.

But if you only made a few orders, you shouldnt be buying $1000.00 counterfeit morgan dollars.  I ordered the silver eagles which was like 80 bucks.

the biggest order ive placed on all my orders was probably $300.00.

Def go a little slower till u fully trust someone 100% and place 20 orders with someone before going all out,  (even though its really not ur fault) but to be honest, most vendors are straight forward.  I got badly screwed on an order for over 250 dollars from a vendor with 100% and 300 transactions.  So you gotta actually get to know who ur dealing with i think first.

Thank you. That really is a shame. All of my other experiences on SR have been positive.

Also under the circumstances the admins should forgive your refund on this transaction, it's not like it went missing in transit, it was never sent. Just make that clear in your resolution proposal that you do not want the refund on your stats.

Re the BTC rise you might have felt differently re hedging if the price had crashed, at least you get back the same dollar value as what you put in.

Thanks everyone for the feedback and advice.

Someone on Mastermind Design's discussion page made a good point:

"the rules on SR are pretty simple, and Mastermind Designs is breaking them and putting buyers at risk.

Vendors can ship out a product at any time, but if they haven't shipped out their product and marked it as being "in transit" within 4 days, the customer can cancel the order. Under no circumstance may a seller save a copy of their client's address. They are also forbidden from claiming they've shipped an order when they haven't.

Mastermind Designs has clearly been marking items as being in transit without actually sending anything but empty promises to people. By not abiding by SR's rules and policies, he's not letting customers cancel their orders when the shipment doesn't arrive, when they are justifiably suspicious or upset. Even if, as you claim, he's slow and does eventually send the orders, that means he's saving clients' addresses, which puts buyers at a serious risk."

Thanks again everyone. After reading through the forums, I found out that MD's products aren't even allowed to be sold here. I shouldn't have purchased them in the first place.
