Title: Why must we wait so long before the resolution center becomes available.
Post by: falerin on August 26, 2013, 02:42 am
I can understand with regular post and handling times why the resolution center is set up as it is. But I really wish it could be made aware of shipping methods. I have made a purchase for which I paid the heavy premium required for express mail. It has been over a week now since the order was placed and over a week since the vendor told me it was sent though he did not mark it as in transit until the 20th. Eveb if he delatyed untill the 20th to send the package however it certainly should have been here by now.l I have had first class packages ordered at the same time and coming from further away arrive while the express mail package has not.

Thev vendor is not responding to inquires via the messaging system and in fact the system shows the messages remain unread even though the vendor has been on pretty much every day. I realize I am but one custome and a new one with low feedback at that, but I am repeat custom of this venodr and I I think think that expecting express mail to arrive in a timely fashion is a reasonable expectation.

The surface is not a cheap oone and one certainly expects delivery in a better timeframe then normal mail coming from further away.

I have all of my BC tied up with this transaction and  I cannot even get answer from the vendor. Money is a tight commodity for me. I a not even certain how much longer I will be able t stay at my present address. The fact that I have to wait fully another week  before even requesting resolution seems a bit much.

The resolution center becomes available after 9 days of the order being confirmed and marked in transit. If the vendor stuffed you around with shipping your order your issue is with the vendor not SR.

I can appreciate your frustration but 9 days seems quite a reasonable amount of time to have to wait before being able to resolve.

With respect to your station and your efforts here. And I mean that sincerely I am a community moderator elsewhere on Clearnet and I well know how difficult and thankless a job it can be.

But that answer seems a total non sequitir

The argument that my issue is with the seller not with Silk Road is absolute tautology, My issue with the seller regardless of the time frame.   The resolution center is a formalized mechanism for solving seller and buyer disputes.

And unless I very much misunderstand the mechanism administrator involvement is only required when the buyer and seller cannot reach mutual satisfaction,,

If the purpose of the system is indeed to mediate issues when it becomes clear that one side or the other has failed to meet their obligations. I am not sure what purpose an arbitrary time delay serves.

It's nature is not changed based on the time a buyer has to wait.

Is there some cost not readily apparent to me that would be incurred if the resolution center were available in an earlier time frame?

I am assuming there must be as otherwise the system would be open from the beginning.

I am unsure what response you are seeking at this time, the resolution center is there for you when you are able to access it and you have correctly described its function and operation. There are also no other ways to circumnavigate the wait period of 9 days before you can take the transaction into the resolution center.

If you have concerns regarding the vendors behavior then you can contact SR support and advise them of the situation, they will however probably instruct you to take the matter into the resolution center when you are able as I have already done.

If that doesn't not answer your question can you please be more explicit in the advice you are seeking.
