Title: Bitcoins removed from my account
Post by: Tots on August 08, 2013, 05:09 am
Hello, bought some bitcoins last night before I went to bed but the service I use is a bit slow and it didn't go through until about an hour or so ago, at which point the site was down.

I thought this probably wasn't an issue but as soon as my confirmations on blockchain reached 6, the coins were transferred to another address of which I have no knowledge and now I'm panicing. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Did you have a 'back up' address assigned? It's highly recommended to do this, for this exact reason.
The coins may have been moved to a safe location in case the site was compromised.

I do have a backup on my account, nothing in there as of yet though. I'm hoping you are right about it just being moved to safety, and I take some small comfort in the fact that not all the coins on that address were taken, just the ones from that particular transaction that went through while the site was down. Thanks for reply,

Well the balance turned out to still be on my SR account despite the bitcoins themselves being moved to another address so all is good. Apologies for the unwarranted panic.

Glad the issue resolved itself.

Thread locked as resolved.
