Title: WARNING fake atlantis link going around in feedbacks
Post by: linas879cizauskas on July 17, 2013, 11:59 am
Just to let everyone know, ive just saw on a vendors feedback someone has left:

5 of 5    Biggest Competition to Silk Road: http://[CENSORED: scam link].onion/    49 minutes    item

THIS IS A SCAM (and quite a lazy one as well lol)

If you click the URL, on the first page, it says "make sure your URL says : (real atlantis URL)"
They didnt even bother to change the real addy to their fake one!
Come on guys, make it a little harder eh? lmfao

Hi there,

I am forum mod over at Atlantis and been trying to catch these now for a while,
If you registered or logged in through that link please contact SR support immediately and consider changing your passwords if you use the same ones on any other sites.
If you have an Atlantis account please get in touch with support there too.

I've now reported this to mods and asked the URL be added to the profanity/blacklist so it cant be re-posted

Thanks and we are doing our best to nip these links in the bud

Those people who clicked on the link and then entered their SR log in details have been phished and this link being is now being propagated through buyer feedback.

If this has happened to you please change your log in and pin immediately.

Makes sense.

If we keep banning their links we can make their job unbearable,
No reason for people to keep having their accounts hijacked like this.  :-\

No one should ever be clicking on any links posted here in the forums or sent via personal messages, especially given the sheer number of scams that have already been propagated via those mediums.

Please take your online security seriously, today its a phishing link that may result in your SR wallet being emptied, tomorrow it could be malware or a key logger or some LE virus that de-anonymizes you.

Please take this stuff seriously, just because you are using Tor you are not invincible.

Yep that's the Silk Road phishing site that's being going around.

Seems the mods have removed the link as I suggested via word filter so hopefully they can remove the other offending Atlantis link asap as well

Ok this is how crazy this shit is getting, from what I am told people who click on the link are then creating an account with the same credentials they use on SR for some ridiculous reason and the phisher does the same thing again with that newly compromised account. This phishing site also creates an account on the real Atlantis site so the person generally doesn't even know that they've been compromised until their funds have been removed from SR.

Are you saying by simply clicking the link it gets your password and PIN ? Huh?

Also how then does it create the new registered account and by pass captcha??

All this by clicking on a link?

So you don't even have to create the account yourself or even enter your Atlantis password on the phish site?

Is this what you are saying?

No I am not saying that, have another read of what I wrote.

I said people who click on the link are then creating an account with the same credentials they use on SR, so they are opening what they think is an Atlantis account using the same details as their SR account. Strangely the phishing link does still actually create an account on the real Atlantis site, there is another thread that already discusses this :

Make of that what you will.

Ok thanks for trying to address the ambiguity.

I'm not sure I see many verifiable facts in that thread you posted though, but I am sure someone will be straight on here to let me know where I've gone wrong :)

cheers
