Title: When a vendor marks something in transit, does that mean he shipped it out?
Post by: RealJohnnyDepp on June 10, 2013, 05:28 pm
Heres the deal, I ordered something last Monday and the vendor put it in transit then and it was supposed to be priority mail. Well, 1 full week later, NOTHING! I messaged the vendor over weekend and he said I will receive it this week. I don't understand this.

How long is the finalize period 17 days? Would I be able to get my money back if I don't end up getting my package at the end of the day....

Depends on the vendor.. But most will ship within 24hours of marking it in transit.

You won't get your money back because it was shipped late. The vendor has nearly 3 weeks to get it to you.

Even if you don't receive it doesn't mean you will get all your money back. It goes to the resolution center if you guys can't come to an agreement.

Vendors should confirm orders by marking them as 'in transit' just before they ship however in most circumstances it can be several days after that. The best thing to do is specifically ask your vendor to tell you when your order has actually shipped, personally I do not care if there is a slight delay as I understand vendors are busy people but I like to have an accurate dispatch date to enable to me estimate approximate arrival times.

That's why purchasing express (tracked) postage is a less annoying way of purchasing.

Also to answer the other question in your post the auto finalize period is 17 days from being marked in transit, it is always advisable to click on resolve and request an extension if that time is getting close and just taking the order into the resolution center extends by 5 days. Once in the resolution center the order will not auto finalize either but you will need to read up on how escrow and the resolution center works by reading the SR wiki, everything is covered there.
