Since the other thread got locked that I was posting in, I decided to go ahead and just update everyone on my situation and let you know that my particular issue remains unresolved at the time of this posting.
On May 8, I made a .45BTC test deposit into my SR account. No luck. It never showed. I could see it in my account history but my balance remained zero.
On May 9, after a 24 hour wait, I entered a support ticket realizing that there was a 48 hour backlog.
As of this time on May 12, no word from support yet on what the problem is or whether I can ever expect to see the money in my account. I'll add that we're well past 48 hours, so I expect that I should hear something from them today?
I will say that the moderators here have been as helpful as they can be, and I have no complaints with them whatsoever. I'd just like to know, one way or the other, what happened to my money and whether it just evaporated into the ether or some scammer's pocket, or whether it's one of those occasions where it just needs to be manually pushed through. I'm hoping for the 2nd scenario, but I'm prepared for the first.
I'll let everyone know when the issue is resolved, hopefully today.
Sincere Thanks to Libertas and scout for taking the time that they have to work with me on this.
****UPDATE****
I changed my password and my pin, and then just posted another test deposit of .01 BTC into my account and it showed up as available in about a half an hour. So, at this time I am assuming that I am another poor sap that got his account compromised somehow and had his money stolen. When support gets back with me and confirms this, or gives me the happy news that they've pushed my initial deposit through, I will let you all know.

Hi mrmilleripresume,
As there is nothing more that can be done in this instance from our end, you will unfortunately have to play the waiting game on this one and wait for SR Support to get back to you.
I do have to address one statement in your post though:
Accounts cannot just "[get] compromised somehow" - the only ways for your account to be compromised are if you enter your login details to a phishing site; you give your login information to others; there is a keylogger active on your machine and it is logging your keystrokes; or somebody guessed your password (I presume it was not something simple, so you can discount this last possibility). Every person is responsible for their own security here, and they are literally the ONLY ways your account could have been compromised, if that is indeed what has happened.

Yes, Libertas
If my account was compromised, I fully understand that it was because of something I either did, did not do, or a combination of both. Either way, I'm not all that worried about it any more. I dumped that account and started fresh. After I made a second test deposit of a very small amount, I went to change my PIN and it seems it was changed already, so now it's locked. I'm starting to think maybe at some point in time I did end up logging in through a phishing site.
I'll keep an eye on it though and if my problem is resolved, great. If not, as you pointed out, it is my own stupid fault.

Nobody is calling you stupid - if it was indeed a fault on your end, to err is to be human! I hope it all works out though; SR Support WILL respond to your message once they see it. I apologise on their behalf for the delay you're experiencing in getting this issue sorted.

:) No man, I wasn't saying you were calling me stupid. I was pretty much calling myself out there. I won't make that mistake twice though. I consider this a learning experience, and I'll make up the $50.00 it cost me somewhere down the road. It isn't going to break me, it's just kind of a pisser.
At any rate, I'm about to go ahead and fund my new account with an amount that can actually do me some good.
My test deposit on this new account went through without a hitch. About 30 minutes and it was right there. Checking the account history though, there is no" tumbler action" that I can see at all...just the deposit. So, I'm pretty sure that when I look at my old account and see the .45BTC deposit and then 2 minutes later a .45BTC withdrawal, there's my thief.
I do have a quick question though. Is it mandatory that you generate a new funding address with every deposit, or can you send to the same address more than once to fund your account?

No, it is not mandatory to generate a new funding address for every deposit. All addresses are uniquely associated with your account. However, I have found that hitting 'get a new address' for each deposit I make (as long as there is no deposit on it's way already) has resulted in no deposit delay issues. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but there's no harm in doing it in order to completely separate each Bitcoin transaction from another.
Again, make sure you don't have a deposit on its way already as changing an address in the middle of a deposit can occasionally cause an issue where it will have to be pushed through manually.

Cool. I'm good to go. I went ahead and did the 'round robin' with my new account. Made a small deposit then withdrew it back to myself. Worked without a hitch. I went ahead and generated a new address and I'm currently waiting for my actual fun money to hit my account. I'm sure it will be fine this time around because I
A: memorized the Silk Road Address and typed it in manually
B: made a new account
C: tested the account with a deposit and a withdrawal, thus insuring that my info, PIN, PW and all that are correct.
D: did not log in to the new account on my Windows machine to even look...and I WON'T do it again. Just the Tails USB thumb drive for me on SR from here on out! It's kind of a pain in the ass, but it beats doing something stupid and throwing $50 down the toilet. I'm not sure when it happened, or how it happened but I'm sure it happened. I made a mistake somewhere on that first go around. No doubt about it.
Thanks for the patience and help. I haven't forgotten about the old account. I'll check back on it in a day or two and see what support has to say.

That's excellent! I hope it's all smooth sailing for you from here on out, and can see no reason why it wouldn't be. I'll lock this thread once you confirm that you have heard back from SR Support on the issue in the original post.

What Support said was, "Looks like your deposit made it just fine." Well yeah I can see that. I also see it getting sucked out of my account two minutes later.
I guess what they're telling me is...my .45 BTC is gone. You might as well go ahead and lock this as resolved.

Sent support another message, they probably checked the blockchain and then the same BTC addy in the SR system which would have given the date and time it arrived in your account. If you are saying it then disappeared again they will need to take another look for you so no this issue is not resolved yet.

Yes. That is exactly what I'm saying. I see the .45 BTC deposit, then I see the withdrawal and I never got to use my money. That's what I'm saying. ;)
Thanks for not letting it go so easy. I really appreciate it. I sent them a reply hopefully better explaining my problem.

Alright guys, this issue is resolved. The official word from SR support is that if I did not withdraw that .45 BTC, then my account was hacked. The fact is that i did not withdraw it, and someone else has stolen my money. I hope they buy some bad heroin with it and meet their unhappy end tits up in a bathtub somewhere. Not a pretty sight and a bad way to go. I've seen it.
Thanks again to the moderators here who have done their best to help me out.

Hi mrmilleripresume,
Sorry to hear that your account was compromised, and very sorry that it took that long to get the issue dealt with by Support. Keep your eye on the Off topic forum over the weekend, the mods will be running a little something that might help soften the blow of losing your BTC. :)
Locking as resolved.
