Title: Is it normal for vendors to not reply to messages?
Post by: rasalhague on April 05, 2013, 08:23 am
As you can see I'm pretty new, both here and on the road. I wanted to make my first purchase from mahakala and sent him a message asking a few details on shipping costs and the necessity for registered mail. He hasn't replied in two days and am wondering if it's normal for vendors to take so long to reply even when it appears on their profile that they have logged on. He does state on his profile that he won't reply to questions whose answers can be found on the forums and/or his profile front page, so I'm wondering if his not replying is a reflection of this policy (I guess they are simple questions the ones I made) or just a lack of time.

Being a top 6% vendor, mahakala is without a doubt very busy. You can check in your "sent" folder of your messages and if the subject is still in bold letters that means he hasn't read it yet.

A lot depends on the vendor, if they are a large vendor shipping hundreds of packages then they probably get inundated with hundreds of messages too so you may be looking a 2,3 or 4 day wait for a reply.

My advise would to be to carefully read the vendors page and any links they may have to their FAQ, terms and conditions etc as often you can find the answers you seek without having to send a message at all. I know vendors do get pissed off with being asked the same things that are already printed in plain site, I'm not saying that is what is happening in your case, I'm just making you aware often the majority of questions buyers have are well covered on the vendor page.

As a general rule though I like to make nice with a vendor before I buy for the first time though and a few pm's to see how they respond gives a reasonable indication of their response times etc, if I do not get a response I usually go and shop elsewhere with a more receptive vendor, but that's just me.

Hope that helps.

That's solid advice. I suspected he was busy but can't know if my questions are "important" enough for a prompt reply. I have researched the forums and have seen that registered, signed mail even from inter-EU shipping is not as bad an idea when ordering LSD as with other substances because of the ease to make the package stealthy -- correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, yes samesamebutdifferent, I can imagine that it can get annoying having to answer the same questions all the time. I want there to exist an ethic between buyer and vendor so I'm taking my time with the communication and research so I can avoid unnecessary messages. If more days pass without an answer, there are thankfully plenty of other vendors out there, thank the Avengers for making it easier to spot the good ones! :)
