Im not sure if there is a topic on this though.
But do you all thing BTC prices are going to keep rising, or do you think they are going to fall?
-
I believe that over the long term they are going to continue to rise. Short term, who knows...
-
lets just hope it doesnt crash again ::)
-
short term rise, long term rise. couple of dips on the way but probably settle at or around $1000 in about 10 years,.
-
idk about the 10 yr. part!
maybe a little less :P
-
They'll keep rising until you buy some, and then the price will crash.
-
It's my guess that they will level out relatively high. After this, hopefully vendors will adjust their ฿itcoin prices accordingly.
-
Whenever i buy them, they seem to plummet...Whenever i buy an item or sell off coins they seem to spike shortly after.
I'll keep you guys updated on when i plan on buying or selling coins
-

so.fucking.true.
I just wish I would have invested when they were 5-something around this time last year-they've over tripled what it was a year ago I could have made a killing if I knew more about how BTC works (and actually had some real $ to just sit on)
-
BTC nightmare!
When I first started they were at 6 Euro. Didn't really know they'd rise and fall so much to be honest.
The crowd I use to buy them are also terrible. I wanted to buy yayo this week and sent close to just enough for the order to the account to buy bitcoins and with no sign of the money after a few days I messaged them to see where the money was and all of a sudden it appears in my account but the price for bitcoins had risen by about $2 in the meantime so I don't have enough now for what I wanted to buy at the start of the week.
They'll defo drop drastically again with news and scares and I'd say the more bitcoins are used and become more popular as a form of trade, the future is more or less rising. Surely if they become too high in price they become not worth using for most folk or am I being ignorant on the matter?
Would be nice to be loaded to invest in large amounts as an investment but I'd only use them for drugs on here all the time so I might be best not getting into it!!! :)
-
I really hope they crash soon so I can buy 10,000 of them.
-
This topic has been somewhat covered in 'Philosophy, Economics and Law'. Id say Bitcoin echange rates come under the 'Economics' part of that title. No one seems to know why the rise but probably a supply and demand with supply constrained by slowing release of coin and demand increased by mining, hoarding and perhaps even wider use as more outlet begin to take bitcoin. Its all a bit 'Tulipmania". It really doesnt help the Road with this kind of appreciation in price. Currency wont work properly if its an instrument of speculation in itself. The price was around 13USD end of Dec and now at ~22USD. No sign of slowing.

Yea it definitely doesn't seem like its going to sow down anytime soon.
-
Seems to constantly be going up. HopeFully not a bubble. All the press it has gotten recently has probably lead to an increase in users
-
there was a mini-crash about a week ago when it jumped to $19 and then felll all the way to $15.. i think something like that is bound to happen again some time soon. but the trend is still upwards upwards.
-
It's skyrocketed in the past couple months. If this trend continues I would predict that prices can rise up to $50 a coin, just this year.
-
I am fairly certain that in the short-medium term (2 months) or so, bitcoin will be steady at $30-33 ea. What I'm not certain of, is how the price per bitcoin will get there. I believe that there may be a crash/bubble-pop before then, but not a catastrophic one, maybe $5-8 per bitcoin after which the price will rise to the aforementioned low thirties. Since I'm not certain about the crash I'm investing a few grand into bitcoin now (in case there is no crash) and a few more grand if my prediction does come true.
-
I invested a good chunk into BTC this week. Going to ride it for a while.
-
Wish I had gotten in when they were <$10, now it seems pointless to invest.
-
*pulls out Palantir*
lol, but nah, all we can do is speculate
I just love when I buy some bitcoin and by the time it gets into my wallet it's worth considerably more! 8)
-
To be honest, I hope that the exchange rate will crash, in this case I could buy a fuckload of Bitcoin.
Even if the rate would crash, I don't see this a problem, because supply & demand would automatically help to raise it again.
-
I recently bought around a grand of btc and put it in my sr account, it has gone up since then. and I just checked and it was 1,020 yesterday, today its 1,065,

First big boy post
I was considering investing last week, not a lot of money but considerable for me, but was a little gun shy. If I had I would be basically ordering for free this week. Hind sight is always 20/20. It could have gone the other way and be worth 25% of current value.
-
I'm in the exact opposite boat. I'm going, "Damn, if I'd ordered those pills yesterday, they'd have been $64, now I still want the same damn pills, nothing about them has changed, and they're $72, and the shipping, which is supposed to be a flat $6, is now sitting at $12.50! Jesus, if I wait until tomorrow, I might as well buy twice the number!
So, I go to put the money in today, and bitinstant is down. Son of a whore!
-
Keep it rollin' rollin' 8)
-
I've bought 100 bucks worth of btc so far. It turned into more. I get an erection every time I look at my wallet.exe, and lose it when I look at my fiat currency bank account.
-
SR drugs are so much more delicious when they're brought with profits from 'sitting on coin'.
A smart trade when BTC was at $2 would have given me free drugs for several years, haha.
-
Win- Win :)
-
Wish I had gotten in when they were <$10, now it seems pointless to invest.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
-
It wouldn't really matter if all vendors pegged their rates to the value of the USD. But I suppose for obvious reasons, investors are happy there are many that don't.

And just to illustrate my point- since I wrote that bitcoin broke $26. Stop worrying that you missed the boat and buy some coins. You will not regret it in the long-term. Sure, it could drop 50% and while you are waiting for it to recover and actually produce some gains you might spend all of the coins on weed. LOL. But if you are patient you will make money. The power structure was way too slow to react to this one. In fact, they have yet to react in any meaningful way. Bitcoin has gained a hell of a lot of traction in that lag-time.
-
I'm gonna rob a bank and put all that hard-earned money into BTC. 8)
I'm willing to put about 15% of my net worth into BTC right now but that's it. I'm no economics expert. I'm just a pharmaceutical block scholar.

hahha

You should ask the vendor to put up his prices in Dollars , rather than bitcoins. Its unfair to the buyer. I am also a vendor here and I put my prices in dollars. Infact if I were you I would not deal with such a vendor because there is an option here to put up the prices in dollars and if the rate rises, the bitcoins drop making it worth the same amount. If us vendors don't want to play on the bitcoin rate, we can hedge escrow. So you should definitely ask your vendor to give you a fixed rate.

It has definitely caught my attention..
-
for completely legitimate, non-SR related bitcoin trading, would you guys just use mt-gox?
-
I panicked and sold when they dipped below 22 today. woops.
-
Does anyone have any reliable information about this? Do any of you invest money in coins and offload them when the prices rise?

Mannnnn, I'd could be rolling in cash right now. That is, if I wouldn't have had to spend the last month running back and forth between my computer and town library's fax machine trying to verify my fucking Dwolla, only for it to just get suspended for absolutely no reason at all.
Seems to constantly be going up. HopeFully not a bubble. All the press it has gotten recently has probably lead to an increase in users
While I'm not suggesting this is the case right now, SR going down for maintenance just a few minutes ago, while we happen to be experiencing one of the biggest BTC spikes in history, has got me thinking about DPR one day using his control over this site to manipulate the price of the Bitcoin. What if there was a price spike and he predicted that it would just be a bubble soon to burst, so he locked everyone out of their SR accounts right before? Not only would he be one the most qualified people on Earth to make such a prediction, but he's powerful enough to actually steer the BTC trading price, as well.

Btcs were like 30 a lil while ago, probaly 50usd ea when it comes back on an it will continue to rise. Me I don't hoard coins cuz im scared what if I get hacked that's fucking thousands bro

"bro"
"bro"
"bro"
"BRO"
It wasn't enough that the majority of the semantic information you conveyed was simply incorrect, but your syntax also included "bro" and "cuz"
These are the Silk Road forums, you're supposed to be better than that. Come on, man!

Trust and integrity on SR. Now thats an interesting idea.

PS. When will these annoying capchas finally disappear? I have 75 posts and a vendor account?!
you have to reach 100posts.

I'm buying. Even winning 10 dollars will make me feel like a golden boy.

At least in the last year and a half SR activity does not control the BTC market. They are starting to be accepted for many other things.
I'm waiting for one of the thieves to cash out, or maybe an early hoarder. The rise always seems to have a sharp price drop then rises again.
About a year ago I watch, and still watch bots controlling the price spikes, but if somebody drops a bunch even the bots can't fix it.
Supply, and demand. Don't kid yourself SR is just a small part.

i've been sitting pretty since i cashed out my pork bellies and tin commodities for BTC and gold bouillon...
sweet bitcoin, don't fail us now
allahu akbar

For the past month, BTC price has been increasing very rapidly, yet halted almost as soon as SR went down last night. I was monitoring it in real time. Same thing happened last two times SR went down.

It seems the general consensus is we will see some kind of crash here soon. I'm wondering if anyone can speculate the magnitude of the crash.
$15 $5 $.01?
Also won't it be hard to buy during the crash as many people won't want to sell to try to regain money?
What is the best place to invest in BTC legitimately from clearnet with my real info thanks.
-
More and more people are accepting BTC. Heck even Reddit just started accepting it for buying "Reddit Gold" on their site.
You guys should subscribe to (clearnet) http://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoin sometime. Lots of interesting stories every day, and most of them announcing more and more people / organizations that are accepting BTC. As BTC becomes more pervasive the price will keep going up.
When you consider that you don't really have to declare BTC transaction to the IRS they become way more attractive. People are slowly starting to realize this and I'm pretty sure the government is going to start freaking out pretty hardcore within the next few years. The idea of cutting off the bloodline of the coercive state creates an existential crisis for the government.
-
fark yeah coins are sky rocketing
thanks for the reddit link

Sure, I'll speculate. I say it could fall all the way to the 150 day exponential moving average, which could be in the range of 16-18 USD, depending on when it gets there.

I saw a news article on the BBC website the other day saying that Domino's pizza in the UK was going to start accepting bitcoin for orders, it is getting some unstoppable momentum behind it now, watch is rise!
