Hi, I'm primarily a silk road buyer, but I'm planning on sending a nice little parcel of contraband to a friend currently living in Australia, and I'm really worried as to how to go about this without it getting stuck in customs. Had a look at Australia's policies on international mail, and they seem to be very strict with it; x-ray machines, sniffer dogs etc.
Anyone have any tips or advice on how I can best prepare this package so it'll arrive unscathed? Any help at all, I've only ever shipped a Q to the Isle of Wight before, this seems slightly more difficult!
Cheers

If it was me I would not ship with any type of food or timber(made from wood). Like a care package ;)
Vac seal it and post it.
In the last 6 months I have changed my opinion on Aussie customs/quarantine being as good as it is made out to be (getting drugs through, I would never bother trying to import a plant) but imo they are still better than most countries.
Im in a little syndicate of personal users in Aus and between us we have only got 65% of OS SR deals. Others are achieving 100% on multiple packages. To me, that shows that it is just a matter of luck.
Check out Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service website. To get some idea of what aussie border nazis are trying to stop in the mail to get some idea.
edit- I just want to add that I have received 100% orders from UK
edit again- I just learned something new about AQIS detector dogs... They cant smell drugs.lol
from the AQIS site
Target odours
Dogs are generally trained to detect the following target groups:
fresh plant material
dried plant material
fruit
vegetables
eggs
all meat products (excluding fish)
seed
cheese
bees
soil.
Here is a extensive list of ordinary household items that are on our prohibited/restricted list. Dont send drugs with any of these ;)

This is fantastic help, thanks! I've had a look at general stealth shipping tips, and looked through the list of prohibited items on the quarantine and inspection site. Good news that the dogs apparently don't care about drugs! That makes this venture feel a lot more plausible. My original plan had been to hide it in a packet of instant noodles, as the recipient is pretty much out of food at this stage too, but one look at their policy on food items crushed that plan.
One thing, bees?! Is that seriously something they are particularly cautious about? Who would want to post bees? Is it even possible to post bees? Is people sending bees to Australia that much of an issue that they have to train their dogs to sniff them out, more so than illegal drugs?
Cheers again for the help!

No worries lads ;)
From what I can gather, there are 2 separate entities working together on our borders. Aqis and Aussie customs.
Customs on the other hand would more than likely have dogs that are trained for drugs. But it is perfectly clear that it is a random screening because folks are getting stuff through.
Re bee's- As far as I know Australia is the only country that is Varroa(aggressive bee mite) free that destroys bee populations. Bees dying is very very bad in more ways than having no honey;)
Yes people ship bees all the time. Bee keeping is fun
Yes it is easyish to ship bees ;)

Correct, AQUIS do not have sniffer dogs for drug detection.
However, customs most certainly do and they are located at major Australia Post processing facilities where ALL international mail/parcels is processed before being sent for delivery in local areas.
I have received confirmation that they have Xray, sniffer and electronic drug detection machines to check random and suspect looking mail and packages. Australia Post staff work alongside Customs Officers and are generally used to open the package before a Customs Officer inspects it.
That's as much as I have been able to find out...
