However, when i place my order there didn't seem to be any option to put my coins in escrow? whats with that? did i miss something? is there a section/thread somewhere where i can learn more about escrow.

Your coins automatically move into escrow when the vendor processes your order. Think of escrow as the 3rd person who holds the funds for both you and the vendor, you can release the funds at anytime once in escrow but strongly advise against doing that until your shipment has arrived and you are happy with the purchase. Any issues cannot be resolved once you have finalized, that is why finalizing early is not a good idea.

First of all hello everyone! I'm very intrigued by the silk road and can't wait to start buying, but I have a question about bitcoin.  If I'm buying from a site like mtgox.com where I have to give them my personal info to buy coin, is that ok? Once I get the coin and transfer it to my account is there anyway I can be tracked down? I've noticed that there are ways to completely anonymously buy coin, but is that necessary? Is buying coin from a site using your legit info safe enough?

Depends on what country you are in, there is a wealth of knowledge on here I suggest you invest some time in reading.

Remember bitcoins are not illegal and are becoming more popular for all sorts of goods and services, however it is a good idea to remain as anonymous as possible as if you were ever faced with having to explain away a mysterious letter/package that you obviously had no knowledge of it would be less plausible if you had easily traced bitcoin purchases made from your bank account.

I only buy them via cash deposits over the counter in banks in my country, you can book the trade via a fake email address. Like I said it depends on where you live really as to what your options are.

I have been on SR for over a month now, not long, but I have done massive reading. Something happened here a while back that spooked me, caused big RED flags and caused me to change everything- I deleted my account, got a new tormail address, changed all names,pins and passwords. You all MUST be AWARE that surely LE has infiltrated now that this site has been so well publized. This is what happened: For a few weeks now I had been posting regular, mostly questions about Bitcoins and gpg, etc, about 25+ posts now. I was finally able to nail it and posted my public key and signature successfully. I had asked a Hero member via PM a simple question, he kindly replied. The in a span of the next 12 minutes, 3 minutes in between, I suddenly recieved detailed information in 4 private messages on how to do encrypting, blah blah blah. The REALLY strange thing was that I never solicited this stranger for help, never heard of them before then and these came out of the blue. They went as far as to verify my signature and offered to practice and help me as much as I needed. Now I went to this persons profile and learned they had only joined 3 days before, had only posted 7 times (and 4 to me) and they knew of Full and Hero members, Global Moderators, they named Scout,Nightcrawler and Astor and our administrator, DPR. Something else that struck me was that they were WAY too polished, WAY WAY too helpful, and too slick. Another odd thing that happened- I had a couple PM's out, to 2 people who still belong and they both PM's disappeared from my sent box. Now I am not a paranoid person, I am retired from the HealthCare field, therefore I have spent lots of time with patients and families, so I can read people pretty well and have spot on intuition.  MY whole point is: newcomers and oldtimers too must be very discerning with who they choose to converse with- the enemy is all around. This is certainly NOT meant to scare anyone, just to share with you what happened and to be extra extra careful especially with personal info, no real name, no real email address, no location,(which I never did) be anonymous as possible to stay safe and protect others- WE are  responsible. Any experiences others might share? This did freak me out a little since I am just now getting set up to make my first small purchase. Thoughts or opinions? and damn, I lost almost 30 posts!

A healthy dose of paranoia is a good thing when navigating a dark net website selling illicit substances, you should treat everyone as if they were LE and never disclose any identifiable information.

It's nice to get cozy and make friends, share stories and help each other out but I would be thinking very carefully about sharing too much info. I'm no tin foil hat wearer either, but I like my liberty.

Best advice is don't get complacent.

Yeah take some windex and spray the inside of a plastic bag so it gets wet.

Put the coke and there and let the windex soak into it.

Then take it out. Put some dishwashing liquid in a glass. Take the glass and pour it over the coke.

Mix it all together. Put it on a plate and put it in the microwave. Cook it for 2 minutes maybe 2 and a half.

That should remove the amphetamines if it has any.

From what I've gathered, basically someone who isnt your usual mailman (police officer in disguise) will try to get you to sign for your package. Upon doing so, your house is immediately raided. Is that all?

Can your house be raided WITHOUT a controlled delivery occurring first?

To avoid a controlled delivery and get out okay, can you just refuse to sign and tell the "mailman" you don't want the package?

Signature or no signature, they need a warrant to raid your house.  The vast majority of the time customs will only send a letter.  The cases of controlled delivery that I've heard about over the years involve people that have a criminal record or that were on parole at the time of the delivery.

They don't convict people because they signed for a package.  People get into trouble for (1) confessing and (2) having drugs in the house.

Even though I do agree with most of what you have posted I would just urge caution in that I recently had my perceptions regarding how LE deal with intercepts (even small ones) challenged considerably. You don't read about it much on here with probable good reason but I can tell you they may follow up and attempt a CD even if its to a clean address and addressed to someone with no criminal record. I'm sure it is extremely rare but it is still good to know that it can happen and as such you should take precautions accordingly.

Not true, well in my country anyway. Not taking delivery and refusing to sign can leave LE with fuck all, it's no guarantee of course but I'd say it greatly reduces your chances of getting busted. You would want to make sure your house is squeaky clean too just in case they do decide to come in for a look.

Okay, so I'm starting to deal in my local area and I'm going to start ordering in bulk to supply my mdma hungry locals. What amount of mdma is too much to order through the mail whether it be in crystals or in capsules? Just a noob trying to be a safe as possible.

I strongly suggest you do your own research and do not rely on the replies on this thread. The threshold for importation charges is VERY low compared to other circumstances.

Don't be complacent, do your homework and have safe drop arrangements for any and all o/s shipments.
