The trolls only have clout if people keep feeding them so when I see people taking blatant trolling as a serious subject then start to debate things it makes me realize banning anyone would be a complete waste of time anyway.

I'm glad that DPR has clearly stated the beliefs of the site. I mostly agree with them, they seem self evident.The fact is though we are not deeply oppressed in the western world, for the most part we live freely, we are more privileged than any people at any time in history. We live better than kings before us. We have 50 different choices of toothpaste. If we want to tweak society and move it more into line with our beliefs this is entirely possible without a revolution.

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

Maybe but the vendor didn't do what they said they would do and now you are sweating on the order. Ultimately it's up to you, maybe give the vendor another day to get back to you if you are happy to wait, you would probably be waiting 24 hours for a response from SR support anyway.

With regards to what they can do, well they could cancel the order for you, would depend on what the vendor had to say I guess.

The issue with big differences in 24 hour average rate and the spot rate are not that common, I know recently SR had it's rate at a much higher than the market rate for a few short periods recently when the price of BTC dramatically dropped.

For the market to be stable (ish) hedging is a necessity to even out some of the volatility, to protect the vendor and the buyer from big variations. This is why SR charges hedging fees on all sales so that money essentially funds an insurance against what you have just described. When the price of BTC is going up those hedged funds are making SR a lot of money as only the dollar value is released to the vendor, not the amount of coins. However when things swing in the other direction as they did recently that pot of money would have been used to offset the potential loses.

These forums are full of conspiracy theory's evidenced by a whole lot of fuck all, mostly rumor and conjecture but never let the truth get in the way of a good story though hey!

Time will tell with Atlantis, it was inevitable that another site would be created and I'm pretty sure there will be more to come in the future, it is the natural evolution of things.

It does make me smile though when I read posts by people continuously complaining about SR though, I really do think some people lose sight of just what the fuck we are doing here, am I the only one that is still blown away by the possibilities that SR provides me with? yes it's slow at times, yes it's down occasionally but lets see how fast Atlantis is when its getting the same traffic volume as SR. I'm sure SR will continue to evolve but it astounds me how quickly some are willing to write off one for the other.

I never encrypt my shipping details because they are not linked to me in any way shape or form. I obviously tell people to never send identifiable information unencrypted but when the drop addy is a burner who cares. I am pretty sure most people who do not encrypt though are just being ignorant or lazy, fucked if I would be sending my home address unencrypted that's for sure but I bet a lot of people do, craziness.

The 50 post rule was brought in to help combat the spamers and scammers, namely the bogus bitcoin sellers who fill up every board on the forums with their annoying posts. This way they get contained to one sub forum giving the mods a chance to delete their posts before they spill into the rest of the forums.

Look I'm hearing you re the newbie section, it is festering mess of spam and I would seriously love to go in there and clean it up but for the time being those who run this site are turning a blind eye to things and that's just how things are I'm afraid.
