DPR....EVERYONE on this site respects you and your choices...as we all know ....you only care about making this place the best it can be for EVERYONE.

But please read your opening post..... how could you not believe that the post will totally confuse even the most seasoned SR user...let alone a new person...and truth is...the older a member you are on here ...the less this stuff matters ....as you have your vendor picked out all ready....but God help you if you want someone new!

You have taken something that totally worked from day 1.....the 100 score....and made that a 5/5 and that REALLY makes bad vendors not look so bad..as even 4.2 out of 5 looks fine....but a 94 out of a 100 would make any buyer look closer....the only problem was the fact that feedback could be edited  2 years later!!!!And that was the only real flaw with that system....

Was it perfect NO...but there was a LOT LESS scamming going on because of that system if any at all... The scamming that was going on ....and I think this was almost non existent.... was the ability to make a listing  that was free!....... and then buy that listing with a buyer account you could take 2 min to set up and then pad ones feedback with fake feedback....then change the price to $30 a piece or whatever and try to sell it but the fact is the shitty vendors that did that....had to change the item to like $2,000 and EVERYONE could tell it was phoney feedback and no had had bought that item before...and again that was the only flaw and that could have been fixed....but that never really happened.... and when it did it was easily spotted... ...but any legit vendor would never even think of doing that...as you could lose your vendor account for doing something so petty...and any buyer that brought that up as a potential scam opportunity ....was just totally unaware of the system and how things worked around here. As "fake feedback" was not ever a real problem in the big picture.....and as ALL OF US HAVE ALWAYS SAID...just do not FE...and you WILL NEVER be a victim!!

It was actually really bad for the vendor because of the edit option. And in the past 1.5 years that I have been here....I have seen every single vendor ask about the edit option...and it was never ever addressed...and now this whole thing where you can edit but not but the last one only but not if it is weighted...is NUTS!!!

As you personally know .... the biggest scam is old school vendors using the FE option....though you guys did a great job of catching those ASAP the last 6 months+ ....the reality is even the worse ones.... such as Tony76 had NOTHING to do with the feedback system...and in fact... though those totally sucked...they were a very small %  and the good that came out of it is more people were aware and watching out for them....but again...these had NOTHING to do with the feedback system that was in place.NOTHING!!!

And if you took a pole...I would bet 90% of seasoned buyers would tell you that the feedback system was great. And 95% of vendors would tell you it only sucked because of the blackmail oppertunities that could have been fixed if you just changed the edit option.

But this new system...and even your opening post(that I totally understood) are totally over the top way to much information and way to difficult for the average user to understand.....I mean it is so much shit that so does not matter and NO ONE could understand it that you HAVE TO take a look at what you have done and PLEASE admit it was a mistake and go back!!! I am all for progression and change....but you have done something that is not good for anyone going forward....and the brand new person that has never known how the old system was....would tell you this new one is totally confusing and gives info that is totally not useful.

Please think about it...and at least run a pole on the main site..so you do not get the "High On's" that do not buy anything taking it...and you will see the vast majority hate this new system.

And I do not think someone could make an argument for how this new system is "better" for the buyers in any way shape or form. If they can and they are reading this...please try...I would love to be wrong.

The only change I take issue with is to inability to edit previous feedback. I can see how this would discourage vendors from asking buyers to FE, and I think a good compromise point is to allow the text to be edited, but only allow the numerical rating to increase. This keeps the discouragement against FE, as a buyer would now be more likely to just leave a 1/5 until the package is received, since they can't go back the other way in the event of an issue with the transaction.

DPR has already commented on this...you just do lot leave feedback right away. You can still FE (stupid, but I understand some vendors reasons) and then after you receive product and/or tested it...you leave the feedback. Pretty simple.

63
Buyers stats are showed...not their names... it is not easy to target the buyers because of this...what it does show....is that the buyers are in fact legit!

People need to relax and look over the whole system viewing another vendor  page and not their own if they are a vendor.

Ok ...I will admit it. I, like StExo  do a bit of misinformation here and there myself as it is good practice since I'm terrible at adjusting my writing styles constantly if I change nicknames or whatever, So when I decided to open my vendor account I got rid of my old forum nickname...I was Guru.

But I think it is a little to obvious in hindsight.

Actually theres something we could change, ask security questions, we dont really have any on here, for obvious reasons of course, but it would be good if we had a second password that you could confirm if your account got hacked, only you would know it, thats assuming you remembered it lol.

All good brother...just trying to make you see it from the other side...

And we do have a second password!!! The PIN!!!!!   ;) (i know what you meant)

It was actually genius of DPR to throw that in there too. If your password is hacked the PIN totally protects you! And 99.99999 never write down and never forget their pin. Sucks that you remember it now..

I can see why you might think that, but in reality I just thought think those people are interesting. I've never ordered from the majority of them and don't really give a shit what they think.

Also I was more or less high when I made this thread so that could have something to do with it. At least this thread isn't as bad as the one I made a few weeks ago about my mom thinking I watched beastiality porn.

LOL....Awesome!! + 1 karma for you.

Nothing better then when someone calls themselves out...is totally truthful(and really funny)...and then points out that they have even done something stupider! And you had to have a great laugh yourself that your goof.....just being a high-on... was taken serious.

What it is actually doing is giving the REAL owner more time to get to his account!!!!!

If it was 24hrs lets say...then someone could hack your account...not the hardest thing...then they would put the wrong pin in...and boom in 24 hours they would have your money! Where as with 72 hours.....if you get hacked....it gives you time to get to your account and get back in it.

And the truth is that very few people forget their pin! And the real people that do...are usually people that have been inactive for a while or are way to high and totally fucked up.

And the other people that "forget" their pin...and this is a very small group...are people that hacked the account...it might not be a stranger per say...but a roommate or a partner...whatever..the point it that they are the group the 72 hours works against!! And when you look at it that way....72 hours is perfect. It sucks when you are a person that forgot it but it is a life saver for someone that got hacked!

Silk Road discussion / Re: feedback system overhaul
« on: August 22, 2013, 12:09 pm »

As a buyer I don't know how to make a purchase because the guy I want to buy from has been here less then two months... this in turn has me not making a purchase because I don't know if it in fact is true feedback or false. I think the feedback should be a much more complex system on my end.

The whole point of not finalizing early and using the Silk Road escrow system is so you can buy from a vendor with out worry. If you do not FE then you have none of the risk you talk about here. I mean that is the whole point of escrow!!!!

And your analogy of getting people not to finalize is like being told not to do drugs is really not even close to accurate. Meaning it is a terrible analogy. I get what you are trying to say...that no matter how many times we warn "them" they will still FE. BUT...the facts are that most people do not FE. And that the scams that vendors pull with the FE option is actually not that big a number at all. Now of course I wish it was zero. But that is never going to happen. Sure YOU can not control the other morons who FE...but you can control you...and you can totally buy from this vendor and have nothing to worry about at all if you do not FE.

Also...as to your theory of fake feedback....it of course happens...but again...fake feedback is hard to do. Sure you can do a few...but if you just pay a little more attention as a buyer you could easily spot it. And fake feedback has never been a real issue here. In the forums you have some people ..like your self...that totally over value fake feedback and they believe that it is something that happens a lot more then it does...or they believe it is easy to do and is worth the time to do it. You actually address those issues...but the one thing you left off is that fake feedback is actually really a waste of time for a vendor and that is why it does not happen that often.

I have no idea if you are  a new buyer or just someone that is overly cautious....but the fact is if you just use the simple guide line of not FE'ing ever....you will pretty much eliminate any chance of getting scammed. You would also find that this is not at all how vendors scam here. They do not do it offering items for sale or with  new accounts. They almost always involve BTC. And the accounts that end up scamming the people here are in fact accounts that are totally legit..no fake feedback at all...ever...and actually are model vendors...then when they want  to leave......they start asking people to FE....and they blindside long time customers. That is what you have to look out for ...just giving you the real facts.

Product offers / Re: Need for Burner Phones?
« on: August 22, 2013, 11:28 am »
In 17 months here...I have not seen an offer/idea to sell something that is as bad as this one.

The WHOLE POINT of a burner phone is to be totally anonymous and be able to in no way shape or form be tracked back to that phone. You would really have to be the stupidest person in the world to buy a burner phone off someone on Silk road. And the really sad thing is that if someone actually put up a listing selling burner phones....someone would buy one. FOR SURE.

Good looking out BrotherFox!!!! EXCELLENT!!

I love when we find scumbags and out them...and then they get shut down!!

Also ...big shout out to Libby(SR support) and whoever else is back there...They can not possibly find every dirtbag vendor...and they need the community's help to point them to these losers....and once again...they react fast and this account has been closed!!! They have become really good at responding to these threads and getting rid of the vendor fast.

As everyone has pointed out...it is really these buyers that FE that allow this to happen. It is always clear to me when looking at the vendor page, when a vendor pulls this, but for some reason a lot of the buyers do not see it. That is a shame.

People that are not vendors...would not believe what some buyers do...or should I say don't do. They do not read listings...then never go to vendor pages and read what is said there to help them. They just purchase. I can not even begin to tell you how many people do not read listings!!! And that is crazy. And I am not talking about someone that orders from me every week....I am talking about people that are brand new to me...they do not read the listings...they do not read the vendor pages...Crazy but true.

I love when we get rid of a scammer. FUCK THEM.

Silk Road discussion / Re: updates on discussion feature
« on: August 22, 2013, 03:35 am »
first off, everyone's alias was reset recently back to their main account names.  This was a mistake, but unfortunately is irreversible, so I just went ahead and removed every discussion post so far because there was no way of knowing who was affected.  Also, when you click "remove" on one of your posts, it will remove it entirely instead of just saying "(deleted)".

This is awesome!!!

Some guy that has been talking shit to me for over 1 year...was totally exposed to me and he did not realize it until after he posted!!! SO funny.

And just a question.....why not have their real buy accounts exposed? It will stop the shit that CHROOT is talking about...and if people want to come on your wall and post...then they should stand behind it and not be trolls! I mean....we are totally exposed! And there is no reason at all as to why they should not be either. If they want to be trolls...they can just come in here  ;D

And DPR the guy talking about the Reddit thing is totally accurate!

Just pay it forward in life King! If you see a homeless man help em out!

Ryno

Do what you did about 1000 more times...then you would be in my ball park of what I have "gave" around here.

I just want people to help themselves...and in this case....there was no need to give him anything...it has nothing to do with the amount of money...it has to do with educating people...So they know if they are that close to getting an order in...and they have time( as he does since it is so late and no one is shipping until tomorrow basically) and they understand how the btc works...then they can just wait and the btc will rise on SR and they will have what they need.

If the btc was going the other way... I would have told him that there is actually a whole thread for exactly what he was asking for..and not to post these shitty request in this forum. But they never listen :)

Either way...glad you helped him!
